Poem: Your Secret Smile

By bhmcintosh | bhmcintosh | 15 May 2019

Our best, truest, most authentic smile may not be the one show publicly...

-----

Your Secret Smile

They clamor for a birds-eye seat,
to catch a glimpse, a peek or two,
of everything you say and do,
and often you are flattered by,
so many eyes, attracted to,
your boring life and interests, too.

But sometimes you don't want to be,
so much the target of their zeal,
but want to hide away and feel,
some thing is yours to not reveal,
some secret thing you won't let go,
some private thing they'll never know.

And so you wave and smile and say hello's,
and in your heart you're satisfied, to let
the world think that it knows, your
every move so simplified, to snapshots
of a life exposed, that's what they're shown,
but all the while your truest smile is safely
tucked away inside, for you and you alone.

I've written some poetry (currently posted on Steemit) and would like to explore more creative writing in the future.
