Poem: The Glowing Flower

Poem: The Glowing Flower

A night amongst the flowers, I spied one unlike all others...

The Glowing Flower

Late in the dark of midnight's hour,
I chanced upon a glowing flower,
And instantly I plucked her up,
And inhaled deeply of her power...

And from her fragrant bowl arose,
The scent of wonders to my nose,
And secrets rushed into my head,
And glories only Heaven knows...

That shining many-petaled wonder,
That fragile flower, tore me asunder,
And left me quaking like the air,
Shaken by her mighty thunder...

In time I fell from realms on high,
And watching kingdoms in the sky,
To looking with mere mundane sight,
On heavens, closed to mortal eye...

And she, whose glow had lit the night,
Whose secrets were my soul's delight,
Who raptured me with sights divine,
No longer held that Light...

And with that faded light I knew,
And could not deny, for it was true,
That when I plucked her in my greed,
I also killed her, too...
