Poem: Heart's Desire

By bhmcintosh | bhmcintosh | 20 May 2019

It is a marvel how the heart can invest our words with added meaning, a context beyond what is written, or spoken...

-----

Heart's Desire

I know these words come from my heart,
And are marked with that sincerity,
That takes my roughened speech apart,
And revises it for clarity.

Feeling magnifies my phrases,
Whose syllables are mean,
And from a darkened landscape raises,
An elevated scene.

I could not pen these words alone,
Nor invest them with that fire,
That burns brighter than I could have shone,
Without my heart's desire.

I've written some poetry (currently posted on Steemit) and would like to explore more creative writing in the future.
