Ponzi Scheme or Legitimate Earning Opportunity?
[JACKSONVILLE, Florida | Thursday, March 5, 2020 | 08:50 AM EST]
Those of you who follow me know that I dedicate a good part of my research and writing to shining a light on the multitude of scams that have proliferated as an inherent result of being at the forefront of a major new technological revolution as is the case with the blockchain. Any time that there is a new, unregulated industry, there will be scams that run rampant and that we have to defend ourselves against if we want to protect our hard-earned assets.
So, when I came across the CryptoTab browser, I was immediately skeptical. Why? Keep reading...
First, What is CryptoTab?
The CryptoTab Browser is a new Chromium-based browser (like Brave) that offers you BTC-denominated rewards during active browsing. All you have to do to rack up satoshi is to use the browser.
Sounds simple enough, but that's not is..
There are some details to how the structure for earnings is set up that draw immediate concern. For instance, while you will eventually meet the low, low threshold for withdrawals of your earnings at 1000 satoshi, you have to refer people and build out your "mining network" in order to make real rewards. This type of structure tends to be problematic for many, as it is the definition of a multi-level venture. What further complicates things is that you are given rewards for every referral you get and a percentage of each referrals earnings and their referrals, etc...until 10 levels of 10 are reached out. This will never happen, of course, because there are more people in this scheme than there are the earth's population today.
So, this is what many people have thought made CryptoTab into a Ponzi Scheme, and I have had many, many comments telling me that CryptoTab is a Ponzi.
Question: Is CryptoTab a Ponzi Scheme?
Answer: No, it is not.
Reasoning: CryptoTab is not a Ponzi Scheme and could never be one. A Ponzi Scheme requires new users to pay fees to join into the scheme that are then used to pay the people who has been there the longest. Eventually, this system will implode upon itself at the moment that new sign-up income no longer exceeds the minimum necessary to pay the people who had to be paid in order for the scheme to continue.
What is critical here is the fact that a Ponzi scheme, by its very nature, requires new users to pay fees, with those fees being the majority of real revenue for the Ponzi Scheme. There are no fees associated with downloading and using CryptoTab. They just simply pay you a percentage of new sign ups as referral bonuses to you.
Fact: Even though CryptoTab is not a Ponzi Scheme, this does not mean that it is legitimate. All we know right now is that it is not a Ponzi scheme, but it is definitely multi-level. Because there have been many high-profile multi-level businesses that ended up being frauds and Ponzi schemes at their core, many people have the false impression that all multi-level businesses are Ponzi schemes. This is simply not true.
So next, we decided to do the only logical thing we could do at this point -- download the browser and give it a try.
CryptoTab Browser Review:
The Concept: It is a great-sounding concept, but there are some features and content that makes it easy to see why someone would have reservations about using it. However, this is just due to the referral structure, where you earn a percentage of each referral and their referrals, etc...until there are 10 levels of referrals. This means that you have the potential to literally earn 10-15 BTC per day.
Of course, such an amount is all but impossible. You would literally need millions of referrals.
This is where people get scared and this it is a Ponzi scheme.
There is one glaring thing to consider if you are someone who thinks CryptoTab is a Ponzi Scheme:
First -- Ponzi Schemes require new members to pay some sort of fee upon joining the scheme. This is how people at the top are paid, and without income from new members, the Ponzi will collapse.
CryptoTab requires no money to join or to earn. You simply get bonuses from referring people. This means that CryptoTab cannot be a Ponzi Scheme. There is nothing for you to lose.
Performance: I found the overall performance of the CryptoTab browser to feel much more responsive than Google Chrome. Cross-compatibility with Chromium and the BTC mining interface are the most valuable draws of the new browser.
Of course, the mining feature is what everyone wants to hear about. Can you really make money with average use? Well, I have made a little bit. I have been running since late December and I have a little more than 60 dollars worth of BTC that I have withdrawn and use as funds with which to conduct a review of another crypto service (more on that in a later post). Not bad for literally doing nothing different except for clicking on a different icon to browse the web.
I know you guys are all thinking, "Okay, Fat Man, get to the part where you tell us if you really get money from their "mining" feature?"
So, the fact of the matter is -- I have been using CryptoTab since late December or early January, and they have paid me every single time I have requested a withdrawal/disbursement to my BTC wallet. I have used these funds for personal experimentation -- testing other so-called earning opportunities.
So, let's get down to the meat of the article -- the proof of payment.
I am not going to do a normal "payment proof" screenshot that shows one single payment. Instead, I am taking multiple screenshots of my entire payout history.
To minimize the risk associated with leaving my funds with any custodian other than myself and my Nexo account, I make payment requests several times per day.
How Do I Meet The 1000 Satoshi Payout Every Day?
It's simple, really. I leave an instance of the browser open on my spare PC, and I make sure that I actively monitor my mining dashboard. CryptoTab gives you a bonus called "Cloud Boost" that you can enable at any time, so long as you have been using the browser. This Cloud Boost multiplies my normal hash rate by 20x, roughly.
Any time I see that the Cloud Boost timer has run out, I quickly go do a Google search on the CryptoTab PC and it re-enables it.
This leads to me making about $1.25 USD PER DAY. I know this isn't much at all, but it's already increased in USD value since I started collecting satoshi from CryptoTab when BTC was around $6000 USD
Bottom Line

I've said it before and I'll say it again....
CryptoTab is NOT a scam. They pay you what you earn; they do it pretty fast; and they never try to suspend your account.
This opinion of mine is based on cold, hard facts as well as close to a million satoshi sitting in a dedicated account strictly for CryptoTab earnings. This opinion of mine, however, does not pretend to make any predictions about CryptoTab's solvency going forward, as they are pretty tight-lipped about the details of their company -- something that has made a bunch of people leery of the project.

What More Will Prove to FUD Traffickers that CryptoTab is NOT a Scam?

FUD is everywhere, and it is very alive and super well within the CryptoVerse. Whether it's fear over government regulations or just downright spite because someone else hit a crypto jackpot and jealousy invades one's thoughts, causing said person to spew venomous FUD from their keyboards.
When someone comes across something like CryptoTab and then they try to share the good news, the FUDsters attack them and tell them that CryptoTab is a PONZI, etc. They say that these people who just want to share a source for decent earnings potential are all scammers and are just out there to get their referral prizes.
My goal is not to profit from my information, but rather to review projects like CryptoTab and provide the Publish0x community with honest reviews.
So, as far as CryptoTab is concerned -- You will get every bit of satoshi that you earn! The only problem could be solvency, and if the project does end up failing -- so what? You've lost nothing and gained a good little satoshi stash that you can then take over to an exchange and try your hand at trading without spending a dime of your paycheck. CryptoTab is an excellent method for newbies to use to get introduced to crypto, and for that reason alone --
CryptoTab is an AWESOME tool for mass adoption, much in the same way that Brave is.
The issue facing CryptoTab is solvency, not fraud. Solvency is not an issue that affects us as users of the product though. As long as you withdraw your funds as soon as you hit the withdrawal threshold (or soon after), you don't have to worry about a potential exit scam. If the company goes belly up, just be happy that you are one of the people who got a decent slice of the CryptoTab pie while it was there and available.
If you want to give it a try, just go to www.cryptotab.site to download. That's all you have to do. The browser itself is identical to Chrome because it is build on top of Chromium.
Set your mining speed and that's it...you're good to go.
Happy Earnings!
