Relocation, rude awakening, and workspace improvement

We finally left our old tiny apartment for a more expensive and spacious one that's situated inside the town. It was a very hectic day and all my joints are still in pain because of the activities of yesterday.

After all the toiling, it feels like a small victory that we were able to get all our stuff down here, and might I add that our car made it easier. We had to get the service of a truck driver to convey all our stuff and those guys found a way to fit everything into an improvised pickup that was nothing short of impressive.

I really should have taken pictures but I was overwhelmed by all the activities and everything happened so fast, so there wasn't any time to stop and appreciate the work of art.

The entire process was smooth but along the way, it started raining and some of our things got wet. Everything was just piled up in an open back pickup so the rain tried to mess up our plans.

As if the rain wasn't bad enough, we also had issues with police along the way. For what it's worth, I was expecting trouble along the way because of how everything was piled up but the problem came from a different angle.

I was driving behind the truck all along, so when it got flagged down by the police, I parked somewhere around the scene and stepped in to intervene. It turned out the driver of the truck didn't have a license and quite frankly, he didn't even seem bothered by it.

I mean, this guy was driving a rundown truck that wasn't even close to being roadworthy, moving all this heavy stuff around, and didn't even have a license? I blame myself for not making all the inquiries but he barely spoke English and I just wanted to get it over with.

What is the price?

I had to smooth things over with the police with some gentle persuasion, but it all worked out and we were back on the road. The total cost of relocating was $20 as expected and I think that was a fair price.

We spent our first night in the new place and in the process, we learned something new about the place. You see, this area is the loud and bubbly part of the city, so there are a lot of clubs around but during our search for an apartment., we ensured there wasn't any club in very close proximity to our house.

Sadly, we underestimated how loud their speakers could be and at night, the muffled sound of music and shouting seeped into our bedroom. I was too high and tired to be bothered by it but @wolfofnostreet couldn't get any sleep.

Does it affect work?

The good part is that it won't affect work since I'm active during the day and I sleep at night. I also don't think it will go on like this every night of the week but statistically speaking, I'm certain that Fridays and Saturday nights will be tedious.

Moving here is great for work because now we have a spare room that we'll convert to an office, at least until a baby comes. For now, it is just a blank space that I intend to upgrade over the coming weeks.

For my office, the priority is an ergonomy chair. My back has started showing signs of the effects of using this hard plastic chair, so that needs to be sorted out as soon as possible.

The next on the list will of course be a bigger desk and we'll start slowly populating the room with the equipment we need to improve our social media presence. The wife has a couple of ideas for a web video show we could start and I intend to explore it with her.

With that said, we have to put things on a scale, and as far as I'm concerned, food comes first. So our first major purchase in this place will be a proper gas cooker. I mean the type that comes with an oven and four burners.

When we sort that one out, we'll then move on to other things. All the activities have been financially intensive but we've been handling it quite well without straining our finances.

Taking profit to improve life

As I said the previous day, I have had to sell off some assets to facilitate the movement but at least it was profit. Gutted that I didn't get to reinvest them but grateful that we have them in the first place.

I'm still in the process of taking profit and this time, I took some profit from my Splinterlands deck that experienced some price movement. I sold some epic reward cards that have seen some positive price movement and took out half of the profit to be converted to Naira at a later date.

The other half was reinvested into the packs that will improve my chances of benefitting from the next dice airdrop. Hopefully, it all plays out as I imagine it and this time, maybe I'll even get a gold foil legendary. A man can dream, you know?
