Bel and the Cyborg
Episode 1
Darkness stains the room, covering the figures below the windows. Seated across from a small, nervous man is a strongly built man surrounded by an air of danger. His icy blue eyes focused on the little man as he speaks.
“It made me feel… little.” Fixing his spectacles on his face, the smaller man continues, “I need him nerfed, ASAP! I don’t care the cost, as long as it’s done in a painful way.”
“My clan could definitely do that. But, while you are in my presence you will control your voice.” A hint of threat slowly drifted off the edge of the larger man’s sentence. “Edward, it’s not a problem to flatline a person, as long as the coin is right. You finding us is an accomplishment in and of itself. It is important you understand that once this is done you will also owe my clan a favor.”
“The favor doesn’t matter. If it’s done I’ll even take the mark of your clan. This guy has crossed the line for the last time. First it was professionally, but then it became… personal.”
“What happened, Edward?” A look of concern slowly crosses the face of... “Bel, he disrespected my wife to my face! It’s enough that you opened a business right next to my business.. but then you say the most demeaning things to my wife?! I’m trying to stay calm… I’m doing my best.” Tears begin to form around the corners of Edward’s eyes as he continues.
“All my life this man has been a shadow tormenting our community. He is a parasite, and I am shocked no one else has nerfed him so far. His name is…”
“No names are required. Just a high definition image with his tag will suffice. Names bring with them emotions… and in our line of work that brings mistakes. Once we are paid, we will not communicate until the job is done. I have heard enough about him to know what must be done.”
Bel motions to a figure standing nearby, “Please handle the specifics of payment, and rules with Edward here. You can do this in the other room. I will run the tag of the mark, and figure out a plan of operation, thanks.”
The shadowy figure escorts Edward to another room while Bel runs the mark’s tag.
“Interesting… I see why no one has nerfed him yet. This job will be fun. I haven’t had a bit of fun in a while.” Bel looks at the group surrounding him as they step out of the shadows. “I will be taking this job, and will finish this mark. Any objections?”
Silence, as the group nods in agreement. On the screen the details of the tag produce an interesting find. “It looks like we will be hunting a cyborg.” Bel laughs to himself as he terminates the screens connection.
