Today I went for a walk to shoot some video to use as b-roll. I’m not sure in how far I’d like to use video as a medium, since I’m not too eager to create music videos, but the weather was nice and I took my camera and went for it. As is, the footage looks rather boring, but heavily modified it should work for some trippy psychedelic visuals.
Right now, I am considering creating a series called “shoegaze on a shoestring”. Over time I have acquired lots of effects pedals for guitar and other gear (such as plenty of low budget instruments, amps and microphones). Well, now I’d like to try to grab the cheapest stuff I’ve got and see if I can make it work for some demo songs. The results might serve as a reference or kind of a review for the equipment used and should showcase what’s possible with very little money, a little knowledge and some creativity. I believe the most important aspect of creative music is by no means the perfect equipment, rather the approach of going for it with whatever you’ve got at hand.
Best,
id-up
