My wisdom tooth has been a problem for me for the past several years. I guess this problem emerged about a decade back but since then I have not taken any action and I have been able to keep my problem suppressed with my remedies. As I fear that I'm complicating it by not paying attention to the problem, I've started thinking about finding a solution for it. Mostly it would be the removal of the wisdom tooth.
The main reason why I get this fear is because they are saying that if we don't address this problem at the right time, there is a high chance that it can make many teeth fall one by one. There is also a high chance that the gaps can build up bacteria which I might take to my gut along with saliva and danger my gut health.
Removal is the only solution
When the doctor explained to me how they would be removing the tooth, I was not very comfortable. They said that it would be necessary to cut the jaw bone to get the teeth out. That's the thing that scared the shit out of me about a decade back. It wasn't even a big thing to get it removed but I was a little worried about what could happen after it was removed and I did not have confidence in what doctors were saying.
I consulted a few doctors and surprisingly everyone said the same thing. There was one doctor who said that if it is not creating any problems and if you can manage the pain once in a while, it is okay to keep it. I grabbed those words from then on and haven't taken any action yet.
Who named it wisdom tooth?
During my young age, I used to think that this tooth was connected to my knowledge and wisdom somehow and that's one of the reasons why it developed at a later age. Surprisingly both in English and my native language, it was called a Wisdom tooth. Later after growing up, I understood that it was just a name given and there was no link with wisdom or knowledge.
I wanted to keep it
The biggest reason why I did not want to take any action on that was because when I asked the doctor, the doctor said that he would be removing 4 teeth, 2 below and 2 upper. I thought it was too much and I was unsure how it could change the appearance of my face. That's why I decided not to disturb it.
Most of the doctors said that the only solution for wisdom tooth problem was removal. That's what made me more suspicious. I did not want to go with some practice that is being done for no reason. As it has been over 10 years now I fear the impact it can create on the other adjacent teeth and that's why I would like to get another opinion now. I don't know if I will again be okay to remove it but I want a remedy because the problem keeps popping up now and then even now.
