I have been home gardening in my backyard for at least 10 years. Playing with what grows and what doesn't. Eating the literal fruits of my labor. Getting exercise and enjoying one of the oldest human activities known. There is something that innately stirs in your DNA when you dig a hole with your own sweat and muscle, drop a seed into the soil, water and watch life spring forward.
I am taking this knowledge and applying it to a larger scale. I have some acreage with irrigation. It has been dormant for at least 5 years. I plan on bring the soil back to life. i currently have a 10x10 foot area that I am building up this winter with coffee grounds and other amendments. This small area is where the beets, carrots, broccoli and garlic will live. It is the virtual seed that will grow into a substantial tree. The rest of the land is yet to be determined. I have thoughts about putting animals on half. I have desires to plant an industrial crop on the other half.
I will be writing and posting video documenting the process. This is my first post. Expect more.
