Hello everyone! I'm super happy to show you two videos of one of my dogs who LOVES to pick and eat his own veggies. His name is Zachary, but we call him Zach. The two videos will be at the bottom of this page.
In the first video, I am showing him where the Mexican sour gherkins or sometimes called a Cucamelon are. They look like tiny watermelons that taste kind of like a cucumber with a hint of lemon. As I point them out to him, you can see him actually picking and eating them. Just listen to the crunch these things have. I only film him picking off of one of the three plants in this video. Those three plants turned out to be really prolific in giving me tons of these tiny things. I love them just as equally much as Zach that I usually just eat them right off the vine when I'm in the garden area. Sometimes I pick a bunch to snack on later. They also taste really fantastic if they have been chilled in the refrigerator for a few hours.
In this second video, I was over in the section of the garden looking for tomato worms. (I may do a separate post on pests later. ) I didn't find any on my tomatoes so I started over towards the squash section. That is when I saw Zach eating something. As I got closer, I saw it was one of our summer squash! I knew right then and there I had to get a video of it. So, I ran into the house to get my phone to post both videos here so everyone could see him eating his veggies. I'm surprised he didn't completely rip out the vine that the squash was on. I say that because he tried to pick his own cucumber over in a different part of the garden, but ripped the entire plant out of the ground. BUT he got his cucumber and boy was he happy!
We don't get mad at him for picking his veggies. He loves them and we always have more than enough planted if he ever does rip another plant out of the ground. Later on that day, my gf fried up some zucchini for Zach, me and our four other dogs we have.
