BabelFish Contributors
In our first Publish0x post (BabelFish's Decentralized Project Art | A Mysterious Fish Emerges) I was excited to share some of the creative things that are happening in the BabelFish community. Artists and designers are organically collaborating to develop new ways to share in the project's narrative and vision. I was telling a friend today that I used to invest like one might gamble on a horse race. Now, I'm seeing myself as more of a "horse groomer" as opposed to a "gambler".
I'm trying my best now to nurture projects and really see the value by actively engaging in the governance process and the creative and marketing aspects as well. I want to spend time with them, get involved with them, and contribute to them. This to me is what it truly means to invest, it's to give of yourself, and have something more than money at stake.
We can all put dollars on crypto horses, but we don't all put hours into crypto communities, much less actively participating in governance. I think this It's not a transactional investment anymore, but a process of exploring and developing a relationship. This is key to understanding the next phase in the development of decentralized communities. We're changing the way we do everything. We're inverting the paradigm.
Decentralized communities consist of people who were drawn to ideas. As I've been getting more involved with the BabelFish community, one of the first names I kept running across was FlameTale. He's a particularly efficient and effective member of the community. So, when the idea was mentioned that I start writing some blog posts about our community projects and contributors, FlameTale's name was the first to come mind.
When I asked "Flame" (as he is sometimes called and emoji'd 🔥) to write up a few words about what he's doing for the community, not only did he write-up a great intro and some info on our social media stats, but he also put together a 3-minute video clip taken from our most recent community call, featuring Dark Knight speaking about the status of our little stealth gem, BabelFish, and the accomplishments of these early weeks.
BabelFish by FlameTale 🔥
I go by the name of FlameTale and my current position within the BabelFish project is community manager of the Discord server. I am an enthusiast, a fan and engaged community member of the project.
From the moment I joined the BabelFish I got this feeling I wanted to add more to the community. Later that day, after reading all the documentation I could find on BabelFish, I decided to approach Dark Knight whether I could contribute to the project and how. From there on the ball started rolling. Since I’ve been given the opportunity to contribute to an amazing project like this, I will do my best to make this project thrive.
My personal goals for the BabelFish community is to grow the community and create positive sentiment around the entire project. I want people to think: “FlameTale is online, he can probably answer my question, or help me with a problem.”
In the picture below I gathered some data of how big our community is. I’m truly amazed how fast we are growing and how positive the sentiment is around BabelFish.
Besides Community participation I believe in what BabelFish brings to the table. The growth in the cryptocurrency sector has been huge in the last months and only the stablecoin has grown to a market cap of around 14 billion USD by August 2020. I really think that BabelFish can change liquidity lakes to liquidity Oceans.
As closing argument I would like to address something Yago said while drafting the SIP for BabelFish:
“More and more, it is becoming clear to me that Sovryn is more than a dapp. It’s an entire financial OS. So seeing additional projects and communities build on it and spring from it is an important validation of this view.”
This makes me even more excited as BabelFish is the first project to launch on Sovryn.

So Long And Thanks For All The Fish
A big thank you to FlameTale for starting off the community spotlight blog series! The community calls are Mondays at 5pm UTC (10am Pacific). Get your headset on and join in the Voice Channel on the BabelFish Discord Server. They're pretty quick and informative, and the community has an opportunity to give updates and share ideas so it's dynamic and thought provoking to participate in the calls. FlameTale and I are also planning to co-host a "BabelFish Contributors" podcast type of thing... a long-form audio discussion show with guests from all over the crypto market.
There's a lot more to say, but it will have to wait. I'll close by saying that SIP18 passed on the Sovryn Bitocracy to proceed with a token sale of BabelFish governance tokens through the Sovryn decentralized exchange platform on Rootstock. Outstanding new developments continued this week and we will be talking about how things proceed from here. Stay tuned for more information on BabelFish's alpha which should go live within a month or so. Join the discord server and say hi to FlameTale!
