When it was first published in 1949, George Orwell's dystopian novel "1984" was met with condemnation by many as a frightening vision of the future. Fast forward 54 years and we're still living in a world that bears some resemblance to the one described in "1984." In fact, more than ever, people feel like they are under surveillance and have little control over their lives.I will try to explore how 1984 has held up over time and why it is such an important book for understanding today's society.
