Fedor Magpie

Initial Investment

I wanted to make sure my team was profitable long term. This meant, able to get 5 PvP arena wins every day, and have a decent time farming in PvE. In addition, I wanted a team that would be enjoyable to play with. This would mean at bare minimum, I need to use my team for breeding. I was looking for decent Axies that could work well together, while having an existing breed count of 3 or less.

So, without further ado, here are the three I chose:

Fedor Magpie - 0.1 ETH

Fedor Magpie has two anemone parts, meaning each time that Aqua Vitality or Aquaponics is used, he gains 100 HP. Nimo and Risky Fish aren't ideal cards as they have very low shield. His role as a tank is hindered in PvP due to this low shielding.

Axie #331214 - 0.0619 ETH

Axie #331214 has Ronin and Dual Blade, very high attack cards. Single Combat will always cause a critical hit if comboed with at least 2 cards in the same turn. The order doesn't matter, and the 0 cost card Twin Needle helps pull this off. Goda is always welcome for getting an energy advantage against your opponent. Ideally we would see another beast card instead of Twin Needle.

Beast I - 0.0881 ETH

Beast I is a standard RIMP build with two Nut Cracker cards. This gives them an incredibly high burst threshold, and Ivory Stab can potentially be used before Axie #331214 gets a Single Combat combo, gaining some energy back. Unfortunately for Beast I, there isn't much consistent damage here, and they almost entirely rely on spending 2 or more energy per turn to be useful.

Breeding

This leaves me with a total investment of 0.25 ETH.

The goal is to breed Beast I and Axie #331214 together. If their child comes out with good abilities, I should be able to make the same amount as their purchase price in ETH, if not more. Beast I's genes can be found below, with Axie #331214's genes following.

Breeding these two together has a decent chance of getting something useful. There's even a 3.125% chance of Cottontail (gain 1 energy) or a 9.375% chance of Rice (steal 1 energy when comboed), for the tail part. Both excellent for energy control. Getting these could be helpful to get high energy burst comboes out, which my team currently lacks.

Notable breeds would result in a double nut RIMP, hopefully valuing >0.15 ETH.

Since both have been bred 3 times already, the breeding cost will be 1500 SLP and 2 AXS. This, unfortunately means that if the child is valued low, we will need to pay 2400 SLP for the next breed. Hopefully we get lucky. Either way, we are on our way earning SLP and learning the game. I've had fun playing so far, and think I can definitely get into this game. I've managed to complete my first daily quest consisting of 5 PvP arena wins and 10 PvE stage clears, gaining a total of 180 SLP. My team isn't the greatest, and I've already learned of some weaknesses as playing. I will be detailing my progress as I go, so be sure to follow if you're interested in Axie Infinity.

On May 22nd 2021, I bought into Axie Infinity. Having learned about these Play to Earn style games, I wanted to find one I could invest into. I've always enjoyed the idea of making money while playing video games, but twitch and streaming were never very interesting to me. I'll outline my progress, here.
