After the moonlit nights faded, leaving only twinkling stars in the sky, peace vanished from Liam’s village. When midnight struck, whispering sounds slithered through the streets, and strange figures emerged shapeless shadows, visible under lamplight, always accompanied by a haunting sound.
The shadows were terrifying. They whispered to lone villagers in familiar voices, luring them closer. Then, they stole the light from their lamps, leaving victims in darkness and terror. Soon, no one dared to walk outside alone at night.
But Liam, a brave boy, refused to fear them. "Why should I turn around when they call? I’ll never believe their lies," he declared.
One night, Liam stepped out with his lamp to prove his courage. These shadows can’t trick me, he thought, marching down the deserted street. Suddenly, he heard his father’s voice from the bushes:
"My son, help me! My legs are trapped!"
Liam shivered. His father never went out at night. Though he suspected a shadow’s trick, he worried "what if it’s really him? He crept closer. The voice grew louder. Then a shadow lunged, swallowing his lamp’s light.
Darkness swallowed Liam. Alone and trembling, he heard a shout: " Liam, don’t look back! " His little sister and villagers rushed forward, their lamps held high. As the light pooled together, the shadow screeched and fled.
"How did you know?" Liam gasped.
"Your sister notice that the shadows can only mimic one voice," explained the village chief. "They feast on loneliness and fear. Their power is deception, but their weakness is unity. They dread crowds and light."
That night, the villagers gathered, lamps blazing like daylight, and sang their traditional song. The shadows writhed, their screams fading into smoke as they vanished forever.
Liam learned his lesson: "Courage alone can’t defeat tricks. True strength lies in protecting one another."
