The Dawn of Airdrops on Solana

As November drew to a close, Solana became a hub of activity with the Pyth Network airdrop, signaling the start of an airdrop era on the network. This trend continues with Jito, which is now rewarding its earliest users.

Jito's Generous Airdrop : 100 Million JTO Tokens

Jito, a Liquid Staking protocol on Solana, offers a unique staking opportunity in exchange for JitoSOL, allowing users to enjoy staking rewards and a share of MEV profits. On November 27, Jito unveiled its governance token, JTO, announcing an impending airdrop of 100 million JTO. This distribution officially commenced on December 6.

To qualify for this airdrop, users must meet certain criteria, such as using JitoSol, being a Jito validator on Solana, or being active in MEV research. Interested parties can check their eligibility on Jito's website, with an 18-month claim period starting from December 7.

The Future of Airdrops on Solana

Following Pyth Network and Jito, other protocols on Solana, like Kamino, are gearing up to launch their own airdrops. Kamino plans to introduce a point system to reward user engagement, a strategy also adopted by other protocols such as MaginFi.

These airdrop initiatives and point systems have led to a significant influx of liquidity on Solana. For instance, MarginFi's TVL increased by 34%, while Kamino experienced a 111% surge. Additionally, Jupiter, a major DEX aggregator on Solana, also conducted a massive airdrop, marking the third in two weeks on the network.
