Sorrow Stories - Aquarium - Nickillus remix 3 by Nickillus

Sorrow Stories (Tina Forlorn) kindly put some tracks from her 'This Time Has Already Passed' album up for remixing in a Metapop competition recently. Although I didn't get anywhere in the competition itself, I had a ton of fun working with her highly individual vocals. It's all about experimenting and trying to improve. Boy is there room for that.

All rights to the songs are copyrighted back to Sorrow Stories.

LYRICS

NIGHT MAN
Who took the fun out of wild wild women?
Who took the gas out of the attack?
Who played footsie with the Gray Lady?
Who brings me dinner in a paper sack?

I ask you who was it, who was it
Who was it, who?
Was it you, was it you, was it you
Was it you?
I ask you who was it, who was it
Who was it, who?
Was it you, was it you, was it you
Was it you?

Who took the wings off my favourite plane?
Who took the wheels off my kit car crane?
Who asked the judge could he boogie-woogie?
Who gives me dreams and asks why should he?

I ask you who was it, who was it
Who was it, who?
Was it you, was it you, was it you
Was it you?
I ask you who was it, who was it
Who was it, who?
Was it you, was it you, was it you
Was it you?

Who took the snakes out of the snake pit?
Who took the fun out of the fastest gun?
Who played guitar in a hot rod car?
Who set the controls for the bracket race run?

I ask you who was it, who was it
Who was it, who?
Was it you, was it you, was it you
Was it you?
I ask you who was it, who was it
Who was it, who?
Was it you, was it you, was it you
Was it you?

LYRICS

Camille seul(e)

Oooh Camille seul(e)
est à plat...
Son rêve : m'étreindre dans ses bras.
Je gis au sol
si froid sans toi...
Mon rêve : m'éteindre dans tes bras.

Camille seul(e)
sait me comprendre...
Camille seul(e)
sait me prendre...
Camille seul(e)
sait me reprendre...
Camille nous seuls :
faits pour s'entendre...

Camille seul(e)
est à moi...
Sans trêve : me serrer dans ses bras.
Je suis le (la) seul(e)
si près de toi...
Sans grève : me terrer dans tes bras.

Camille seul(e)
sait être tendre...
Camille seul(e)
sait me détendre...
Camille seul(e)
sait me surprendre...
Camille nous seuls :
faits pour s'éprendre...

Camille seul(e)
m'oppresse parfois
je crève, m'effondre sans ses bras...
Mais Camille seul(e)
lit en moi,
m'élève quand elle (il) fond dans mes bras.

Camille seul(e)
peut m'entendre...
Camille seul(e)
peut me défendre...
De Camille seul(e)
je ne peux que dépendre :
Camille tu es ma (mon) seul(e)
fol(le) allié(e).

something new after quite some time ... I was very busy in the recent months and got a little uninspired while working on some tracks I have been working on for quite some time ... so I started a new project :-) (as I always do ;-).

I found some kind of flow while playing around with all the different synths I acquired over the last years and so the main parts of the track were done in only about three evenings.

I used most of my "synth arsenal" this time:

There is

"TRK-01" - for bassline and kick
"Spire" - for more basslines and arps (I use this in all of my production)
"Reaktor" - for percussions (used all the time too)
"Thorn" - for pads (just love automating that harmonic filter :-)
"Avenger" - for more arps, effects and the lead (my most recent toy :-)
"Flex" - for more effects (new synth too)
"Signal" - for even more effect sounds (the over distorted "catacombs of Machina" )

Pass to Shadow by Biting Point

A song about how it might feel to know you are going into a situation which you may not survive, such as going over the top in WW1 or being one of the first wave of soldiers to land on the beaches of Normandy in WW2.

Another Star in the Sky by Flicker

Another Star in the Sky by Flicker.
Album: At Least 1000 Words (2002).

Music by G. Davies/D. Danielli.

Copyright © 2002 Wud Records.
Copyright ℗ 2002 Explicit Music.

Performers:
George: guitars, keys, synths, percussion
Dave: Plank, drums
Lucy: cello

Fun Facts:
Another Star in the Sky was almost named Another Scar in the Sty due to an outburst of mispronunciation, which would have been appropriate in some ways as George and Dave were the bassist and drummer for a kick-ass folk band called Pyg for a time.
Another Star in the Sky was dedicated to George’s father who passed away around the time of its creation.
In the evening of the day when Mr Davies senior died, the sky was cloudy and only one star could be seen.

Beautiful Wings by Flicker

Beautiful Wings by Flicker.
Album: At Least 1000 Words (2002).

Music by G. Davies/D. Danielli/L. Welsman/E. Williams.

Copyright © 2002 Wud Records.
Copyright ℗ 2002 Explicit Music.

Performers:
George: guitar, synths, samples
Dave: Plank, drums
Lucy: cello, keys
Emma: flute

Samples: hollywoodedge.com, The Double Locks Hotel, Exeter

Fun Facts:
Black Sabbath once told us that fairies wear boots.
We can confirm that this statement is absolutely true.
Beautiful Wings is another Flicker tune written using DADFCE tuning on acoustic guitar.
It is dedicated to George’s girlfriend at the time of it being written, which was around the time of the solar eclipse in 1999.
She often wore fairy wings, and if she walked past something and brushed her wings against it, she would then hold the wing, grimace, and complain of a having terrible wing-ache.
During the solar eclipse of 1999 this same person told a member of the public how she had grown them, which was highly entertaining and well worthy of a tune.
The conversation went something like this.
P: Where did you get your beautiful wings?
GGF: Well... when I was a very small fairy I had these two funny little stumps on my shoulder blades, and then suddenly one day, I woke up and these two beautiful wings had grown.
P: Huh. Come on, where did you get them, really?
GGF: (stamping her foot in indignation) I just told you where!
P: (a little wide-eyed) ...

A bit of instrumental froth, that probably falls between a number of genres. Perhaps I should have called it 'Misfit'.
