The way I look at it once mass adoption of the Brave Browser is realized YouTube is going to be in some financial trouble. You can imagine the sheer cost it takes to run a website like YouTube. Now imagine a time when the ad revenue is cut by 25% [conservative figure/guess] or more because of the Brave Browser. YouTube could be back to not generating a profit, like it did for many years after it started up.
I spent almost 3 months sending daily emails [one email per day, I didn't want to be seen as a "spammer"] trying to get Ethan and Hila of the h3h3podcast to grab hold of the referral program that Brave is running. Having their super large audience jump in on this. It would be great for Brave and very bad for YouTube.
When it comes to Ethan and Hila my goal was for them to get in on this before some other "Jake Pauler" type of YouTuber jumps on the BAT train. I just figured with their Teddy Fresh clothing product line they could have a great platform for their products. At some point in the future they could even allow product purchases with BAT tokens.
The reason they were such a great fit for the Brave Browser program is they often complain about the demonetization that YouTube inflicts on many content creators. Brave completely solves that problem by allowing their users to earn and then tip BAT tokens. I explained this quite simply in the the many emails I sent for 60 days.
Alas they did not respond but I figured it makes for a great story for my diligence, and my belief in what this project can become. The ultimate destroyer of YouTube :-)
From my perspective once this train gets rolling and everybody is running an ad blocker YouTube could be finished. I haven't seen a YouTube ad in 5 months and I don't miss them at all. Although I would like to watch ads on the channels that I like while also being able to tip them, hopefully this becomes a feature in a future iteration of Brave.
I started sending messages to Philip DiFranco who is a verified publisher to see if He would like to jump in on this but again zero response. One of these YouTubers will get this thing going to the absolute chagrin of YouTube and Google.
