Hello and welcome to this write up on why I decided to make a Generative Art Project called the Morning Coffee GAP. For those that don't know me, I'm Byron from Canada and I draw zombies. Those of you that do know me also know that I've been dropping my zombies on the WAXP Blockchain for 2 years already and there really is no end in sight.
So about the Morning Coffee GAP - what is it?
Let me first start by saying this. Ever since NFTHive.io built their free to use PFP Making machine my mind has been quietly putting a lot of ideas together. I find great joy in building art projects in a way that allows collectors to build as well. So when the PFP machine was launched, a flood of ideas were also born and all of them are wanting my attention.
So I built a few PFPs to learn how it all works. https://www.artistbyron.ca/pfps

After a lot of fun building and learning I started to play around with the idea of making new art out of old art using the PFP Machine from NFTHive. Would that still be a PFP or does it become something different? I've started to call them GAPs - Generative Art Projects - simply because it is generating a new piece of art from many pieces of my old art. And it doesn't really look like a normal ProFile Pic
So what the heck is the Morning Coffee GAP ?
Simply put, the Morning Coffee Generative Art Project is a mashed up collection of artwork randomly generated into a new piece of artwork. Each one is based on a template which acts as a place holder for artwork to be layered over.
The template is based on this more recent ink drawing.

From this template I decided to modify as many elements as possible to include as many of my old artworks as possible too. In the end I actually made it to complex for the PFP Machine, but managed to whittle it down to a usable number of variations that the computer could handle the calculations. I often build with simple in mind but get complex as the project develops.
Here's a small preview of some of the different options you could possibly get. In reality there are probably over a million combinations, but all I really hope to see is 10,000.

So that's it. The Morning Coffee GAP is just a cool piece of artwork made out of other cool pieces of artwork and all of it minted on the WAXP Blockchain using NFTHive.io ... the coolest part is that there is no coding knowledge needed. Not really. Once you get the basics of how the WAX platform works, everything else is easy.
You can go mint
That's IT?? Really???
Well no .. . not really. As I mentioned earlier, I really like to get people involved and engaged with my artwork and with what I'm doing. It's fuel for my fire and keeps me on a creative path. So my other idea that developed in my head as I built the Gen Art Project was offering a lot of rewards to those that buy, hold and even mint certain #'s - and that part is still under construction and will probably be a part of the next article.
Morning Coffee Rewards.
fwiw - 1 reward was already sent out to those that were early and minted one of the first Morning Coffees. I made a quick little fun PFP that only those that bought and held a Morning Coffee by a certain date, could get. https://nfthive.io/drop/nfthivedrops/5161

I also have a campaign where people are adjusting their Twitter Avatars to be a premade one that I created or use a tansparent PNG file to wrap around their current avatar.

More low-fi methods of marketing and engagement are going to be coming up. In fact, that's exactly what I am going to be working on shortly after finishing this article and sharing it on Twitter, Telegram and Discord.
The Horde's Rewards for those that partake of the Morning Coffee.
That's coming soon. What I also want to do is write an article about different parts of this Generative Art Project. Since there are literally several hundred different artworks that went into making this GAP, I really don't know where I will begin with that. I'm sure something will present itself or I'll just fumble around until I figure it out.
If anyone has some favourite artworks of mine that they would like to know more about, let me know in the comments. Almost every single one of them has a story, even if they're made up fantasy tales I told myself as I was creating the imagery.
You can learn more about the different projects I have on the WAX Blockchain by going to https://www.artistbyron.ca - warning though, it's pretty vast and not perfectly organized yet. If you wanna find me on Twitter, I'm @artistbyron and I hang out on discord a lot, but only in the House of the Horde https://discord.gg/rA3UMEkpqc
Thanks for reading, back soon.
