Every year we make the rounds of the London MA and BA fine art shows. Last year we did most of the UK but this year unfortunately we couldn't attend all of them. Of course the MA shows have not yet all happened. 

Over all student shows are just that alot of Raw talent which hasn't been directed properly. Standing out from the crowd are a few gems but one can't help but feel that these artists are a cut above the standard student. 

The feel of the shows is two; on the one hand you have some Raw talent who were all ready good and needed very little direction to become great just the space to work it. 

Then you have the "Oh shit I haven't done anything all year and I have 2 weeks to make my BA artwork" 

I'm not saying the latter is true but with some work it sure feels that way.

I think the main issue with art school is that there is no bar as the great late Bob Ross said about art school "they will tell you what makes a tree, but not how to draw one".

For anyone who isn't all ready talented the current fine art school set up is a joke artists need direction not just space to create. 

With all that being said here are some works we saw that we really liked.

But the lack of meaning is allways an issue the above work have the opposite problem lots of meaning not much skill. Why can't we have both?
