Elvira Nabiullina, the head of the Central Bank of Russia, is confident that the digital version of Russia's national currency should be tested on a limited number of users before becoming widespread in the event of a successful launch.
“This is necessary so that we understand how this will work in the future,” she said, stressing that digital assets will not replace fiat money. Pilot tests may take place as early as 2021, and the integration of the new asset, according to executives, should be carried out smoothly.
So, to each digital ruble will be assigned a unique code that will track the movement of coins and thus completely cancel the anonymity of transactions. At the same time, Elvira Nabiullina stressed that during the development, special attention will be paid to confidentiality, which will be able to secure the funds of Russian citizens.
