Why you won't get rich with NFTs

By Amyantum | Radio Social | 16 Dec 2021

And you won't get noticed neither. Nor famous.  Sorry, that has to be said. OK, maybe that's a bit harsh of a statement, but the point stands valid.

But let's rewind a bit and see why. After all, starting from the end it's not helpful in order to get a clearer picture of this NFT craze, right?

So, NFTs are still hot and won't go anywhere, despite what naysayers might say. There was just a bit of a misstep few weeks ago, but the whole ecosystem recovered pretty quickly and that's just a proof that things are working right, that the underlying foundation (no pun intended) and the colossal superstructure is healthy and strong.

BUT.

Things are not easy and all this glittering varnish that seem to cover all-things-crypto it's not your key to success or wealth. Because the point here is not about the content, but HOW you SHOW and PROMOTE that content to the whole world. One might go as far as to say that the content itself is irrelevant and you can sell an empty package and worry later about its content. No, that's not an overstatement.

We live in an age of form over substance, aesthetics over everything else and in the NFTs space - Crypto Art in particular - this stands very strong. And how do you show your stuff and get a higher chance to sell your sh!t? Enter: Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, your-favourite-social-radio and your 15 minutes of glory MIGHT follow. Beware, MIGHT, as that's not granted at all.

This trend is exponential once you throw online galleries in the picture: Mintbase, Mintable, SuperRare, Rarible, Foundation and all the rest, they just WANT YOUR MONEY. No, really. Don't drink the kool-aid of gasless and free-minting: it's all up to how much you drop in terms of your hard-earned money, be it real or crypto. If you want a spotlight, open your wallet and buy some space to boost sales and visibility. Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with that, of course: their playground, their rules. But please, let's be honest then and let's forget about all DeFi, DAO and all the other lies.

This scheme is old as the internet itself. In the end of the day, it's all about advertising and money. YOUR money.

A case-study.

I tried to put some stuff on Mintable (gasless, of course - and through the new ImmutableX minting) and needless to say: the above theory applies perfectly. I have an Instagram and a Twitter account, but I suck at self-promotion. So I'm kinda doomed when it comes to NFT space. Low views, no interaction... OK, mine are not what you might call Crypto Art masterpieces, but c'mon... have you seen the shit been sold lately? All those awful monkeys, random pixels, gut-wretching 3D renders, random color schemes? Seriously?

So, a bit for testing, a bit for trolling, I started minting something, if you wanna have a look.
