There's been a lot of talk around $JASMY the last few months. A small pump, excitement, volatility, then a downturn. The question is, does it have a future many people want it to have?

Background

Jasmy has quite powerful backing from many Japanese companies and big names. The idea behind it seems sound: monetize the data that companies are already collecting from you for their profits, and allow the client (you) to actually benefit from your data being sold. The idea that customer data is the new oil, the new gold, is correct in some respects. But on the other hand, these companies ALREADY get your data, and they don't have to pay for it, aside from data-selling ventures that do pay for data. 

Prospects

Data storage is a large, large market, with not too many players out there in the crypto space. ICP, FIL, AR are some of those, but none hold a overtly commanding position, although ICP and FIL are billion-dollar projects. Therefore the business model for $JASMY seems viable, and backers certainly seem to think JASMY could take a piece of the cake here. With a lot of support from local Japanese communities and managed by experienced business people, it also complies with extensive Japanese regulation concerning cryptocurrency; it's gone through all kinds of audits and that gives a sense of security to the project. The price is very low, which could be an indication that profits could be large and room for growth is there. Still, I have some doubts whether it's something worth investing heavily on.

Looking at their website, one could be a bit confused. It's not clear what they have actually built already and what they plan to build. This lack of concrete info is partly a part of the language barrier and partly vague insinuations about future and current events. A lot of influencers push this coin,  and that alone can be part of the recent pump, but long term there's not much concrete evidence here. Therefore, I would be cautious on this one, investing a little but not make it a main player in my portfolio.
