Try to look back and figure out how we got off track this far
Progressives like Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson and FDR
Changed the rules of the game to bring fascism with a smile
Stop and take a look around, we're just living in denial
One all powerful government that dictates how every penny's spent
Too many times they close their ears to the voice we raise to the highest tiers
Three branches designed to carry out the will of the 'We', what's history
For if not to guide their actions with wisdom not knee-jerk reactions
There's a time and place for government,
but it's not inside our homes
It's not in our children's lives,
We need an overhaul of the system,
no more 'Big Brother' we need to rise against them
The change we wanted and the change we need
are not the change that we've received
One all powerful government that dictates how every penny's spent
Too many times they close their ears to the voice we raise to the highest tiers
Three branches designed to carry out the will of the 'We', what's history
For if not to guide their actions with wisdom not knee-jerk reactions
One all powerful government that dictates how every penny's spent
Too many times they close their ears to the voice we raise to the highest tiers
Three branches designed to carry out the will of the 'We', what's history
For if not to guide their actions with wisdom not knee-jerk reactions
The day we buy into the notion we need to be lead by elites
Is the day we forfeit our freedom and all admit defeat
Notes* - This is actually the first song I ever wrote on guitar. The day I started playing. I learned the 5th chord and basically just started writing from there. The guitar was the vehicle I learned on with music, but from day one looking back on it, it was always the writing of songs as a whole I was interested in. I carried this song through two bands and then tucked it away. Japedo and The Turnoffs/4 Minute Warning. Although, I don't think Japedo really qualifies as a band. It was me and Jeff. I'll post up old version of the song in time here and over on the 4 Minute Warning blog.
**Recording Notes - I purchased a midi keyboard from M-Audio that came with a cheap version of Pro-Tools that was locked down. Not knowing much about Pro-Tools, I programmed the drums with my Zoom 234 drum machine and direct input recorded them. Then I mic'd a Hughes & Kettner Warp 7 head and a generic cab with a Heil PR20 in Magix at my buddy Jeremy's. I used a Schecter Diamond Series Damian 7-String. I used the native distortion on the Warp 7 for one side, and Boss Metal Zone MT-2 for the other side that my buddy Ron gave me. Jeremy recorded my vocals with a Heil PR30 in Magix. I direct input an Epiphone EB-0 into Pro-Tools. The samples were from clips I found on YouTube that were relevant to the lyrics, but after the Ron Paul clip was deleted, I realized I need to archive them myself on LBRY/Odysee to ensure the content isn't lost.
