Introduction
Tulasi plant has been a part of Hindu household since time immemorial. It is believed that a Hindu home is incomplete without tulasi which is usually grown in the centre of a frontyard .
This plant is considered sacred and has been described in many Hindu holy texts.
Tulasi has number of medicinal values which gives it a special place in ayurveda. It has properties like stress reliever, mouth freshener, detoxifier, anti-bacterial, against cold-cough, anti-oxidant, germicidal, etc. Instant remedies for various sickness can be prepared at home as well after seeking guidance.
Nature offers many types out of which two commonly found are:
1. Rama tulasi or Swarna tualsi (light green color leaves).
2. Krishna tulasi or Shyama tulasi (dark color or purple leaves).
