The full launch of the Stkr platform happened today, at the same time as the Ethereum 2.0 mainnet launch on Stkr.io!

What does this mean? And what can you expect from it?

175 validators right from the start!

After launch, staking starts immediately with 175 active validators! This means that ETH stakers will start to accumulate staking rewards, which will be immediately liquid with aETH (ankrETH).

If you staked ETH, you can claim your aETH on the Stkr platform upon launch. We will add liquidity for aETH on Uniswap soon and will support other initiatives and pools who want to list aETH, such as Curve Finance.

Become your own node provider

On the provider side, providers can already list their nodes using their own hardware. When more ETH is staked by users, these ETH will be allocated to providers who will start earning commission from staking rewards on Stkr.

Providers are required to lock at least 2 ETH as insurance against slashing. Any slashing penalties are deducted from the insurance, this way stakers are protected against bad performing nodes.

If node insurance drops below 2 ETH, your node will be paused until you top it up again. You can, of course, increase it above 2 ETH at any time to be safe.

Any ETH deposit by providers is used for node insurance. Providers will NOT receive aETH for their deposited insurance funds. Insurance funds are only redeemable at the end of the full staking period.

Run Stkr nodes on Ankr (soon)

Ankr will list our Ethereum 2.0 Stkr node soon, so that everyone can become a provider on Stkr without owning hardware. As long as the Stkr node is not available in the Ankr store you can only become a provider if you own (or rent) your own hardware.

Stkr test platform

Along with Stkr mainnet we released the Stkr test platform on Ethereum Goerli for everyone to try out. Simply switch your MetaMask network to Goerli to use the testnet.

The test platform will also be used to release test versions of new features in the future.
