DevRel Team Spotlight: Dhaiwat Pandya

Dhaiwat, could you tell us a little bit about yourself? Where you’re from, your background, and how you got started in Web3?

I’m a 21-year-old developer born & raised in Surat, India, and currently living in Bangalore. I have been working as a developer for around 4 years now, but I got into web3 almost a year ago. I got into this space through Developer DAO and Gitcoin DAO. I had been following Nader Dabit (founder of Developer DAO) for a long time, and I wanted to check out this web3 experiment. I made the jump and never looked back!

When did you start at Ankr? What do you do as a part of the Developer Relations team?

I started at Ankr last month! I’m still pretty new around here. As a part of the DevRel team, my main focus is on creating educational content for web3 developers who want to build with Ankr. This includes but is not limited to creating written tutorials, creating YouTube videos, and even TikToks! Apart from content, I also like to work with our engineering and product team to improve the experience around our developer tooling. I also try to organize local developer events from time to time.

Why did you decide to join Ankr? What do you like about their approach to web3, development, and infrastructure?

I think it has to be Ankr’s focus on decentralization. In the spirit of web3, Ankr’s infrastructure is *actually* decentralized and distributed around the world among several node providers. And Ankr is not done yet. The company has even bigger plans to make the Ankr ecosystem even more decentralized and reliable in the future. That excited me.

You are an experienced open-source builder and enjoyer — what projects do you recommend everyone check out right now?

I would definitely recommend checking out wagmiRainbowkit, and Scaffold ETH!

Working online gives you a lot of freedom to travel, do you have any locations that you want to visit soon for conferences or anything else?

Great question! Unfortunately, my passport doesn’t let me go to most web3 conferences that take place, so in the near future, most of my travels are going to be in and around Asia. I have actually committed to traveling to 10 different countries from now until the end of this year, which should be super fun! I am going to Indonesia and Thailand in August to start with.

Can you give us some info regarding developer DAO, should every web3 dev join up?

If you are web3 dev, then yeah, you should definitely join! I don’t even know how to describe Developer DAO. My words will never do justice to what this place has done for me and a thousand others. But I’ll try anyway: you can think of Developer DAO as this place where some of the most talented & kindest people in web3 hang out, make friends, build cool stuff and meet in real life too!

What is web3 lacking right now that the next bull run could improve upon in terms of user experience, tools, or anything else? (hopefully, to gain the mass adoption everyone keeps talking about).

Web3 is definitely lacking that polished end-user experience and even developer experience. I think it’s just because this space is comparatively very new. During this bear winter, I have seen more & more web3 companies start obsessively working on user experience, so I am bullish. We just need to make our apps not impossible to use for the average Joe. We are getting there, slowly!

What is the best thing about being a dev? Shipping, teaching…?

Writing a bunch of code and seeing it just *work* is still one of the most magical feelings I have ever felt. It never gets old. So yeah, I would say shipping is something I truly enjoy. It’s who I am. But teaching others to do the same and empowering them with my devtools and educational content is almost as fulfilling in a different way. I love both these sides — and my role at Ankr lets me do that!

Favorite programming language?

TypeScript. No doubt!

Can any developer get started in web3? Where do they go first?

Yes! I will point them to Speedrun Ethereumweb3cheatsheet (I made this one!), and, of course, Developer DAO!

Have any predictions for the biggest upcoming use case for how people will use blockchain/web3?

Gaming and identity for sure. NFTs for gaming; and decentralized social graphs with identity are two things I am super excited about.

What is your favorite meme? (developer-related or not)
