For everything else (not Bitcoin) there is the stockpile. Not as grand sounding as a Strategic Reserve but could have been a lot worse. They could have named it:

• digital asset garbage dump
• digital asset rubbish tip
• digital asset scrapheap
• digital asset junkyard
• altcoin shit pile

Crypto Strategic Reserve

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse had been actively campaigning and promoting that XRP (and other altcoins) be included in the proposed Strategic Reserve. Have added in resource articles from January 2025.

And on 2nd March 2025 President Trump announced on Truth Social the creation of a Crypto Strategic Reserve.

“A U.S. Crypto Reserve will elevate this critical industry after years of corrupt attacks by the Biden Administration, which is why my Executive Order on Digital Assets directed the Presidential Working Group to move forward on a Crypto Strategic Reserve that includes XRP, SOL, and ADA. I will make sure the U.S. is the Crypto Capital of the World. We are MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Quickly adding that he also ❤️ Ethereum too.

“And, obviously, BTC and ETH, as other valuable Cryptocurrencies, will be the heart of the Reserve. I also love Bitcoin and Ethereum!”

It only took 4 days, following a backlash from Pro-Trump tech and industry leaders, for the Crypto Strategic Reserve announcement to be overturned.

I particularly remember:

• Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko opposing the idea of a US Strategic Crypto Reserve
• accusations that Ripple proposed including Solana (SOL) in the reserve to justify XRP’s presence in the Crypto Strategic Reserve

There were others such as:

• Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong more diplomatically suggesting Bitcoin only

Four days later the Crypto Strategic Reserve is forgotten. And Executive Order 14233 established a U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and Digital Asset Stockpile for forfeited BTC and other government digital assets.
