PROLOGUE

  • The following is a teaser snippet from the prologue to my new up coming novel "An Extra Ordinary Journey'. The novel is based on true events that occurred during my time living off gtid on a narrow boat in the UK.

December 13th, James rolled over in bed and glanced at the thick white snow outside the lodge window then looked at Jenifer lying asleep next to him.

'It seems a long time ago now," thought james rubbing the sleep from his eyes. 'Since we started making plans. The time spent searching online for suitable plots of land and the seemingly endless trips out only to find that none of them ever lived up to expectations. That was, until we finally discovered the beautiful riverside plot along the banks of the river Nene. Fnding the boat, that was no picnic either. Should we opt for a wide beam? More room to live in but then we would be restricted as to where we can travel. Could the four of us possibly live together on a narrowboat that's less than seven feet wide but would allow us to travel more freely?'

Most of Jenifer's family were disapproving of the whole idea. Thought we were both mad. But hey, irrelevant concerns now. Our home has been sold, the river plot paid for and here we were on a short break to the Arctic circle waiting for payment to clear on the narrowboat “Lorimar” that we had fallen in love with
