Alien Worlds, has become an addition to my blockchain library. As the year starts to whine down the blockchain gaming marketplace is ramping up. This past Friday Alien Worlds had their significant last sale before the launch of the game. It was their land sale initially slated for 36 hours as a Dutch auction it came to a close at the 35th hour.

The much-anticipated launch did not disappoint there some who did not receive any land and others with offers to sell.
Overall the game potential is vast. Similar to my other land based game Upland, both working to develop and secure a healthy economy. The processes between the two are different. Where Upland looks to mirror and grow from a real life economy, I believe Alien Worlds is applying the ‘what if we (society as a whole) had to start from scratch’. For both to succeed, they need to blend traditional economics with the digital economy but their starting points are different.
Earth’s citizens are dispersed across 6 planets in Alien Worlds. These 6 exoPlanets; Veles, Eyeke, Kravian, Magor, Neri, Naron are actual real planets. Land NFTs have the planet name and specific coordinates that belongs to the landowner.
What is impressive is how they throughly thought through the whole gaming system.
- On boarding. The most important element for mass adoption AW understood from the onset. If you want to attract new players, expand and growth the blockchain economy/universe, it has to be simple and frictionless. They did this by going with Wax blockchain using Atomic Assets, the added Ethereum (for Ethereum users and liquidity by covering a large portion of the gas fees).
- Packs sales and Launch, smooth. They built an auction system that followed more of traditional card pack sales. No frenzy to be the first assuming you will receive the first mint. As with traditional packs, it didn’t matter if you bought first or last, the cards were randomly sorted.
- From playing stand point you have options of how you wish to play. Mine your own land, Rent out your land, Pay commission to LandOwners (for those who do not own any land), Stake your Trilium (TLM) to a planet of choice for a Planet DAC (Decentralized Autonomous Communities) token used help develop planet governance, or fight to gain more Trilium or random NFTs. And could be a combination of all.
- From early releases the UI looks very intuitive. Time will tell in a few weeks.
- Basic starting tools are provided - Avatar (explorer) and a tool (shovel).
- Accumulate Trilium for future goals (personal and planetary).
Mining will be the default game play for most players and it brings with it, it’s own complexities. Each Planet has unique features that determine the mining process. All of which sounds like the early days of crypto mining while applying the methodology of conventional mining. Depending on where you are each NFTs independently or combined will provide;
An estimate value that can be extracted,
An estimate mining time (TBV),
An estimate value charging time required between mining cycles.
With more documentation/guidelines on route, you can readily see the complexity and ingenuity behind Alien Worlds.
Like Upland how your play is up to you. It’s a great way to navigate and network with other players who share similar objectives. Here is the discord link. The future gameplay is undetermined, theoretical and speculative but where it may lead is: each planet having its own decentralized autonomous community, with the governing body voted by players to offer suggestions for best practices to improve the planets success everything via smart contract, negotiations and discussions and at a later date even more development like land terraforming, offer additional utilities and marketplace, and other various forms of operation and play mechanics including but not limited to Inter-operability with other games.

There’s a lot to learn and a lot to read and study in order to best strategize one’s potential gains. And keep in mind this is still just the beginning. Do your own research don’t jump in blind. The blockchain market of, digital tokenomics, Defi and NFTs are just the tip of the iceberg like a cliché often overused but in this case under used.
I am always looking for new blockchain gaming players - particularly women. Interested let me know.
Till then,
Hope to see you on the other side of the moon!!! (All kinds of puns intended - LOL)
