Liar Liar

 Have you ever told a lie?   

Of course you have. Everyone has. Even as Christians we've lied many times.  

Peter denied Christ and lied three times. Sarah lied when she said she didn't laugh. Abraham told a half truth when he said Sarah was his sister and not his wife. Not only once, but several times. And then there's Rahab's dilemma. She told a lie to spare someone's life. The midwives when Pharaoh was seeking to kill the children.  

The Bible is full of times where the saints lied. And God certainly doesn't want that in our life, but what does it mean when the Bible says:  

Rev 21:8 .....ALL LIARS, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Does that mean that at some point the Christian is headed for hell if they tell a lie? And has to repent so he can get right with God again? Is our salvation in jeopardy at this point?  

It would appear so, except God explains for us in other verses what he really means here.  Don't misunderstand, God doesn't really like lying at all. But he's talking about a difference here. A deeper deception, a deeper lie. Because God doesn't turn his love off and on like that. To even suggest so, is the highest form of disrespect to Him. Because He's forgiven us ALL trespasses and sins. As far as the East is from the West hath He removed them from us. Remember?  

So what IS He talking about here in Revelation.  

1 John 2:22 Who is a LIAR but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.  

Quran:

Allah is but one God. Exalted is He above having a son.

Paraphrase: Say that Allah has no son. 

It has to do with denying Jesus Christ and his redemptive work on the cross. Whether by works-based salvation, or just by simply saying it.
