Last September 10, 2024, took place in Philadelphia the first and last presidential debate of the 2024 election, between former President Donald J. Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. As we may know the presidential debate is a pivotal moment, in fact,  alone it can shift the outcome of an election. Last June for example, the debate between Trump and Joe Biden showed everyone the lack of capacity of the current President to stay another four more years in charge of the most powerful country in the world. That and the pressure coming from his party made him decide to leave the presidential candidacy to his Vice President. 

The two candidates arrived at the debate with opposite feelings. Donald Trump’s campaign stalled after Biden’s step back, and lost some of the enthusiasm accumulated during the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, a few days after the failed assassination attempt on the Tycoon. On the contrary, Kamala Harris, from being defined as the most unpopular Vice President in the history of the United States and polling worse than Biden - while he was still running - arrived in Pennsylvania in a honeymoon mode that had been going on since she accepted the candidacy.

Since the two candidates entered the room, the Democratic candidate seemed more energetic and dynamic, like she knew what she had to do to deliver a sense of strength and Presidential control over the situation, unlike what she has done for the past 3.5 years at the White House. Kamala overall seemed more prepared than Trump who was improvising. Every aspect of communication was studied by Harris: the smiles, looks, body gestures & movements, and tone of the voice, nothing was done without a purpose. On the other hand, Donald Trump showed once again his lack of ability as a debater, going off-topic and letting Harris go under his skin. 

The majority of mainstream media proclaimed Harris as the winner of the debate, whereas polls now show Harris in front by 5 points.
