Why is this happening? All information is stored on a central server, and the protection of personal data is the responsibility of the owner of the social network that we use. But this tells us that the owner of the network has full access to our data.

Data can be stored on any "server" anywhere in the world. Users of such a network themselves set the rules for the use of their data, give permission or prohibition for their sale, transfer and / or monetization.
