The last decade is famous for the fact that censorship is growing and developing in all areas, from politics to science. It is about world science that I would like to say a few words today. I always used to think that this is the only area where there is no point/profit to censor something. But it turns out there is.
Censorship has been imposed on scientists in a number of countries. Yes, and the most "democratic" country in the world has not escaped this. They must compare their research with the official policy of the White House. This applies to all research - from the content of harmful substances in wastewater to the greenhouse effect.
There is a manipulation of the results obtained by scientists. What is going on? In scientific committees responsible for developing and bringing research to a production level, they simply replace objectionable scientists with loyal ones; cutting or defunding scientific groups; well, as always, the results of research are distorted and rewritten.
Here is one example for you. James Edward Hansen, an American professor at the Department of Ecology and Earth Studies at Columbia University, says that Nasa employees responsible for public relations seized and studied all his lectures, papers, reports, posts on social networks, revised all applications for an interview with him. Hansen deals with environmental issues, climate change and global warming. The President of the United States at that time forbade the dissemination of information about the danger posed by the greenhouse effect to our entire planet. Because it contradicts those bills, those statements and actions that the government broadcasts.
And this situation is not only about Hansen and the problems associated with climate change. The Independent Union of Concerned Scientists was created, which included Nobel laureates, winners of various prestigious awards, heads of universities and research institutes who do not agree with the censorship and policies pursued by the presidential administration. They argue that the government is manipulating research results to its advantage. As you understand, this will not bring anything good either to us or to our world. Because such actions lead in the most peak case to disaster.
