The current sphere of communications creates a precedent in which nothing that we observe in the information space (media, social networks, Telegrams) can be 100% trusted. The Internet is the most popular source of information. This is understandable - searching the net takes less time than reading reference literature, and even more so visiting the library, watching newspapers and television programs.
The Internet and social networks are the main source of disinformation. In the post-truth model, it is there that most of the so-called “patient zero”, that is, the first peddlers of fake information. And it turns out that the digital age has created a crisis of confidence. We live in an environment where the media, telegram channels, youtube shows deliberately manipulate the truth. Trust has been catastrophically devalued, and organized disinformation is a growing multi-million dollar business.
Businesses face viral information constantly, often suffering serious losses. What are the information wars in telegram channels worth: as soon as a competitor or the market evaluates the activities of a particular company, we immediately get a drop in shares, dissatisfied or worried about the stuffing of customers and partners. And go prove that the information is not true. Now businesses need to prove to their audience that they are telling the truth, and not an expert in commenting on an article, especially even if it is published in the federal press.
As a result, we see in society - panic - and this is always dangerous. Especially in the conditions of complete information openness of society and the availability of the Internet to almost everyone and for everyone. Any information, even if it is completely reliable, passed along the chain from one to another, gradually acquiring details (sometimes invented), can change beyond recognition. And negative information, even more so. People love horror stories.
Therefore, trusting everything that is written on the network is too naive and even stupid, because the Internet is a free access zone where everyone can do whatever they want. The process of searching for information is a delicate and very difficult matter.
And it turns out that post-truth is neither good nor bad, it has already happened. It is a tool of both the modern digital media era and those eras that have passed and will be. It's just that today we have to adapt to it and learn to manage it.
And how to implement it? In its current form, fact checking does not solve the problem and is a dead end offshoot of journalism. As the traditional way of verifying online content, i.e. through knowledge-based “manual” fact checking, becomes difficult or near impossible due to the vast amount of information that is created online and spreads rapidly. This is especially evident in the case of social networks, where users can freely share content that can go viral in just a few hours. Thus, there is a need to evaluate information on the virality of a huge amount of data in a limited time mode.
The only possible solution is to learn how to test yourself. This is a task similar to identifying cognitive biases. First of all, you need to find the primary source of information. Exorde is a web3 protocol that allows developers to collect and link all public data on the web. This protocol collects all possible information from articles, videos, audio, social networks, in a word from all places where there is at least some minimal data. And at the output we get data that connects all similar facts. Thus, the goal of the project is to find the original source of viral information in its original form, before this information becomes viral. And then the person himself decides whether to trust the information received or not.
In our project, the artificial intelligence module will allow us to recognize objects in the text, extract sentences, facts, compare them with each other and perform similarity checks. This approach will make the joint work of participants and artificial intelligence the most effective, will allow tracking relevant and fresh information received by the network, and form a more objective opinion.
The Exorde Labs team also announced the launch of Testnet v1.1. After all the improvements, data processing, observations and protocol setup of Exorde, anyone can become a tester.
The team has now released web scraping modules (only compatible with Windows for now. Linux and Mac coming later this summer) to participate in Testnet. Provided a web dashboard to track network activity, statistics and URLs. At the next stage, it will be possible to download modules with open source code and take part in the next stage of the testnet. This phase will include more detailed web panels showing blocks of data being mined on the Exorde network, the number of free and employed workers, protocol details with additional statistics, URL and more. And at the last final stage, Testnet v0.2 will already be with improved staking mechanisms, rewards and dynamic protocol settings.
