So if don't know me by now, my name's Franklin and I'm a student in the University. I have a big problem though, I am a chronic procrastinator. I had wanted sto carry out this review a while ago, but I kept procrastinating (as usual) but now i am finally writing the review of the Whitepaper of Rapids coin, a project I had grown to have a soft spot because of their strong Telegram community. So let's delve right into it and let's all try to understand what Rapids is shall we.
Rapids is all about making online transactions way more accessible by bringing together and fusing the established technologies of social media with the emerging technologies of blockchain payments technology. The Rapids token started as an ERC20 - based smart contract and they have now grown to become a coin (remember the difference between a token and coin I discussed sometime back, check it here) with the Rapids Blockchain based on the QUARK algorithm.
"Rapids Coin (RPD) is an open-source blockchain project implementing cryptocurrencies throughout Social Networking platforms. Any transactions online can be completed efficiently, economically, and almost effortlessly." According to their Whitepaper.
What all this basically means is that Rapids wants you to stop sending 'likes' and rather start sending RPD and other Cryptocurrencies across various social media platforms on which you actively participate. I mean with the enormous power that Social media today possesses, it was only right that social media and Cryptocurrency and Blockchain were fused to create a beautiful matrimony. Rapids seeks to promote direct transactions of Cryptocurrency by making their use and applications convenient and yet manageable. Think of it this way, if I wanted to send you Crypto on a social media site, I don't need your wallet address all I needed was your username and as fast as me saying FAST, you already had the Crypto in your wallet (that sounds pretty cool right).
With a total supply of 35 billion with an initial distribution of 15 billion at their launch. "The Rapids development will will support the use of cryptocurrency throughout all internet enabled devices and platforms" (wow, this is very bold). Rapids coin will enable the user to send money across all Social Media platforms and directly exchange cryptocurrency into fiat currency, and being the PoS (Proof of Stake) cryptocurrency that they are, you can just stake your RPD to earn a passive income. Right now they have a Telegram tipbot, Discord tipbot, Twitch tipbot and Twitter tipbot. Checking their roadmap they seem to be however lagging behind in their proposed plans, but they more than make up for this with key partnerships. One of their rather more mouth watering partnership I'm excited about is the one with Uptrennd. With Uptrennd growing nicely, it might have a ripple effect on Rapids who I look forward to using at some point in the future to tip content creators on Uptrennd.
Their community is a pretty strong one and though I'm only on their Telegram group, if the energy there is anything to go by then their Discord, Twitch and Twitter platforms must be really buzzing as well. Right now, to be pretty honest with y'all the 15k RPD I have is looking rather small and I think I will have to increase that. This project looks promising.
