My Submission
After reading about the poster/drawing event, I started brainstorming ideas on what to make. Since I'm so invested into this game (even though there are huge issues that needs to be addressed) I decided to do something grand. In this section of the article I am going to breakdown my creative thought process. First, I sketched out a rough draft of what I want to make. Just a quick 5 minute drawing just to see all the main blocking elements.
Very crude, very quick. If you see from my sketch, I wanted the TLM token to spin, so that means it has to be a 3D asset. My first thought was to use blender, since I dabbled in it before I stop doing designs. Thought that it would be fun to jump back into blender and learn some new things from the process.
As it turns out, I forgot all of the shortcut keys and movement in blender. Which ended up wasting about an hour of my time trying to re-learn things. But I quickly gave up on blender. This first few hours made me doubt myself. Here is a representation of how I feel:

I decided to go to photoshop, something that I am actually used to using. Even though I barely understood the 3D aspects of photoshop, a few YouTube videos helped me out. At this point, I was starting to get somewhere.

Now on to the hard part. Putting textures on the asset to make it actually look like a coin. I managed to find some assets online on coin scratches and metallic look, however I had no idea on how to actually apply them. At this point, I regret not actually making effort in my 3D class. But we move on. Took me a good hour trying put all the textures on, adding bump map, adjusting the colours, adjusting the light. In the end, got the results I wanted, then unto the next task, which is trying to set a timeline and make the TLM token spin. Which again led me back to YouTube Tutorials. Another 20 minutes pass by and - voilà.

(I can't actually upload the gif, since it's 15 mb and P0x only allows me to upload 2mb images :)) ). Next unto to the fun part! Designing things. This is where the work starts to come together. I wanted the poster to be based on two colours, black and blue.

From there on, it's just about finding information about the game to put it in the poster. So I decided to ask around in the Alien Worlds official discord group. And like always, whenever I go to AW's discord group to look for help, no one actually answers my question. So I went over to their website to read up on information about the games lore to put on the poster. Here is the end result:

If you like my artwork and want to support me in this competition by upvoting my post, or if you guys wanna see the gif version you can click here.
I hope you guys enjoy this different type of content. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
