Top 5 apps in zkSync

By JuanInTheChain | Airdrop Season | 4 Apr 2023

zkSync is a trustless protocol for scalable, low-cost payments on Ethereum, utilizing zkRollup technology to ensure mainnet-level security without relying on third parties. It employs zero-knowledge proofs and on-chain data availability, significantly reducing gas fees and making the platform user-friendly for both end-users and developers. zkSync allows for ETH and ERC20 token transfers with instant confirmations, ultra-low transaction fees, and no registration requirements. It supports multisig and will soon feature permissionless smart contracts. Compared to other Layer 2 scaling solutions, zkSync stands out in security and usability, offering users peace of mind even if they go offline for extended periods.

We will cover some of the top dapps in this ecosystem. Their order has no relevance:

  1. Mute zkRollup DeFi platform

Mute is a DeFi platform focused on establishing a liquidity hub for protocols on zkSync, featuring its flagship dApp, the Mute Switch. This dApp serves as an AMM DEX with limit orders, a farming platform, and a bond platform, providing incentives for liquidity in various use cases. Built on zkSync v2, the Mute Switch allows users to invest, trade, earn yields, and engage in bonds through a decentralized, community-driven platform, all while leveraging Ethereum’s security without high gas fees.

2. Onchain Trade

OT is a DeFi protocol featuring single-token liquidity pools, offering a capital-efficient experience for traders, liquidity providers, and projects. It addresses issues like high capital costs, slippage, and inefficient capital usage in traditional AMMs while unifying the DeFi experience. Users can swap, borrow, and trade within one integrated interface, minimizing fees and slippage.

3. Space-fi Star

SpaceFi is a cross-chain web3 platform on Evmos and zkSync, focusing on connecting Cosmos and Ethereum Layer 2 ecosystems. Offering products like SpaceSwap, NFT, Starter, and Spacebase, SpaceFi enables users to earn rewards through liquidity mining, trading mining, and minting Star tokens into NFTs. With low fees, fast transactions, and an evolving ecosystem, SpaceFi aims to provide a comprehensive DeFi experience while exploring cross-chain asset and interoperability solutions.

4. SyncSwap Decentralized exchange

SyncSwap is a powerful, user-friendly, community-driven decentralized exchange (DEX) on zkSync, leveraging zero-knowledge technology for a secure and low-cost DeFi experience. Encouraging accessibility and community ownership, SyncSwap aims to become a one-stop-shop DeFi hub with efficient trading and a scalable Ethereum experience, supporting the mass adoption of zero-knowledge technology and Web3.

Orbiter Finance is a decentralized cross-rollup bridge designed for transferring Ethereum-native assets across various Layer 1 and Layer 2 networks, offering low-cost and near-instant transfers. It supports multiple networks including Ethereum, StarkNet, zkSync, Loopring, Arbitrum, Optimism, and more. Orbiter features a safe, low-risk structure based on the rollup technique, and facilitates transfers without interacting with a contract address. Users, called “Senders,” and service providers, called “Makers,” participate in the system, which utilizes smart contracts to ensure security and efficiency. Orbiter’s technology enables efficient cross-rollup transfers, inheriting the security of Ethereum L2 and benefiting from the scalability of the Ethereum ecosystem.
