Greater celandine (Chelidonium majus)

By Sasha Poet | ABOUT EVERYTHING | 2 Jan 2021

Large celandine (Chelidonium majus) plant once enjoyed a great reputation, but today it is known in humans only as a poisonous weed. It blooms from May throughout the summer there until autumn. It grows on the southern slopes of forests, along walls, fences and on sand avalanches. The plant is also found in winter when it is covered by snow. So it’s good to remember where her living space is. The plant overwinters and stays green.

The plant cleanses and forms blood. It is used in diseases of the bile, kidneys and liver. It is supposed to eliminate jaundice if soaked in wine. It is also recommended for hemorrhoids, painful urination and tinnitus. We drink it in sips all day, we don’t cook it, we just steam it for 30 seconds. (2-3 cups of tea) Used externally for skin diseases, open eyes, warts, lichens. Plant juice is said to help with bleeding and drainage of the retina. Mix a large celandine leaf with the stalk between the moistened thumb and forefinger.

Apply the resulting moisture with your index finger to closed eyes. The eye will absorb substances from this juice. The same goes for cataracts and low vision. The same goes for tired eyes. It is also said to be used for bumps - skin cancer. Facial hair, stronger hair on the legs and arms are thought to indicate kidney dysfunction in women. We lubricate the affected areas with the juice of the plant, which is made with the help of a juicer - centrifuge. It is also good to drink three to four cups of nettle tea. This is supposed to promote better blood circulation to the kidneys.
