Aavegotchi: Playable NFTs backed by DeFi

Aavegotchis are playable ERC721 NFTs backed by decentralized finance (DeFi). They act as interest-generating digital piggy banks, created by staking DeFi tokens directly inside them. Aavegotchis are dynamic NFTs, which means that their metadata changes over time based on interactions with their owner. The more you love and care for your Aavegotchi, the more valuable it becomes!

Aavegotchis desire daily interaction, which led our team to deploy on Polygon, the leading sidechain of Ethereum. This allowed us to put every aspect of Aavegotchi on the blockchain, including all dynamic metadata, and even the adorable art! That’s right, Aavegotchi is 100% on-chain, unlike most other crypto projects. It also allows our users to interact with their Aavegotchis and the Aavegotchi dApp for just fractions of a cent.

However, our team isn’t content to just launch an NFT. We’re creating an entire playable world built around our spooky frens called the Gotchiverse. The first phase of the Gotchiverse is expected to launch in Q1 2022, and will feature ownable land parcels and four new play-to-earn ERC-20 tokens known as Gotchus Alchemica. The Aavegotchi Ecosystem

GHST, Aavegotchi’s native token, is the fuel for the Aavegotchi ecosystem. In order to make purchases in the Aavegotchi Baazaar (our home-grown NFT marketplace) or participate in our NFT auctions, you’ll need GHST Tokens on the Polygon network. You can also stake GHST to earn FRENS points, which are loyalty points you can convert to raffle tickets used for participating in exclusive NFT Raffles. Prizes up for grabs in these raffles include Aavegotchi wearables (ERC1155 skins for your Gotchi!), Aavegotchi Portals, Gotchiverse REALM land parcels. Additionally, you can sell the Raffle tickets in the Baazaar to add to your GHST stash.

Staking GHST is a great way to dip your toe into the game and learn the ropes. Single-staking GHST is our most popular option, and we also offer incentivized liquidity pairs for GHST-USDC, GHST-ETH, and GHST-QUICK, with a GHST-MATIC pair coming soon.

Aavegotchi’s Play-to-Earn Opportunities

Aavegotchi’s original play-to-earn opportunity known as Rarity Farming, is an innovative game mechanism pioneered by our team. The play-to-earn concept is to reward users who are the most thoughtfully and enthusiastically engaged with the ecosystem. As its name suggests, this is a process where you attempt to make your Aavegotchi as rare as possible, and earn GHST rewards for doing so. Rarity Farming pays out the leaders in three categories: base rarity score (BRS), kinship, and experience. 

There are several ways to improve your Aavegotchi’s rarity. You can equip it with Wearables to increase its Base Rarity Score, pet it twice daily, feed it potions to increase its kinship and experience points, attend XP events, participate in governance by voting in the AavegotchiDAO, and play in minigame XP leaderboards.

Since our initial launch in March, 2021 we have held two Rarity Farming seasons. Season one of Rarity Farming paid out 1.4M GHST in rewards (over $3.3M at the time of writing) and Season two paid a staggering 2M GHST in rewards (over $4.7M at the time of writing). That’s a grand total of over $8M this year alone!

With the launch of the Gotchiverse, “play-to-earn” will take on a whole new meaning for Aavegotchi. Once it’s live, players will be actively earning yield in the form of Gotchus Alchemica while playing the Aavegotchi game.

The Gotchiverse 

The Gotchiverse is Aavegotchi’s metaverse, where players can explore, craft, battle, earn, and socialize. The Gotchiverse REALM itself will also bring with it new use cases for the GHST Token as well as a free-to-play aspect of the game. Players can harvest the four elements of the Gotchiverse -- “Gotchus Alchemica.” 

Gotchus Alchemica are ERC-20 tokens known as Fud, Fomo, Alpha, and Kek. They can be used to craft Clash of Clans style installations within the Gotchiverse to improve your REALM land parcel.There are three ways to earn Gotchus Alchemica in the Gotchiverse: harvesting from underground, collecting from the surface, and channeling from above.   

Gotchus Alchemica will be exchangeable through our native decentralized exchange: The Gotchus Alchemica Exchange (GAX). Initially, the GAX will support pairs of each element with the GHST Token. To incentivize liquidity on the GAX, an ERC-20 Token called GLMR will be distributed to all liquidity providers. GLMR can be spent to reduce the building time of installations within the Gotchiverse. 

Gotchiverse Land

The Gotchiverse offers players the opportunity to own their own digital land known as REALM parcels. REALM parcels come in three different sizes: humble, reasonable, and spacious. Each REALM parcel comes with a base portion of Gotchus Alchemica under the surface for players to farm. You can also build a number of installation NFTs on your parcels such as Harvesters, Reservoirs, Towers, and Walls.

In addition to earning Gotchus Alchemica, one of the most intriguing opportunities as a Gotchiverse land owner is the ability to earn through NPCs as dApps. Players will be able to create their very own Gotchiverse businesses right on their REALM parcels! If you can build it and monetize it, then you can use it to earn in the Gotchiverse.

So far we’ve had two land sales for parcels located in the Gotchi Citaadel, the home-base for Aavegotchis within the Gotchiverse, there will be one more land sale before phase one of the Gotchiverse goes live in Q1 of 2022 and other sales in the future for locations in the Grid, aka the area outside the Citaadel. 

Gotchi Lending

One of the biggest questions play-to-earn games must answer is how will they scale to the levels of traditional games without affecting the scarcity of their NFT assets. The scholarship model made popular by other play-to-earn games was a great work around, but unfortunately the system has many flaws. Gotchi Lending is Aavegotchi’s improvement on this system. Gotchi Lending removes the human element and keeps the entire process 100% on-chain. This offers the benefits of on-chain security as well as trustless execution. 

Gotchi Lending will allow Guilds and individual Gotchi owners alike another way to passively earn with their Aavegtochis and also allow other users to play the game, all without any impact on scarcity! The lender and lendee agree to the terms of the lending smart-contract, including fee, split of Alchemica, and duration. After the lending period concludes, the Alchemica is distributed and the Aavegotchi is automatically returned to its owner.

Free-to-Play Coming Soon

The free-to-play entry point for the Gotchiverse will come through “Lickquidator Credits.” Once available, these credits can be earned through completing tasks, participating in airdrops, referring friends, and other ways in the Gotchiverse. Lickquidator Credits allow users to play as a Lickquidator character, the villain of the Gotchiverse. Their goal is to collect loose Alchemica that has been spilled around the Gotchiverse. Lickquidators can also engage in combat with Aavegotchis and offensive Installations to earn Alchemica. We are already experiencing more than 1000 users per day and expect exponential growth of our user base when the free-to-play aspect is in place, removing all barriers of entry to the game.
