A few days ago, I sent a note to encourage you to consider the HOW, and not the just the WHAT, when it comes to investing. I discussed my thoughts on how to approach the real estate market in a way that gives you the most options. I know some of you have your current focus on other classes of investing.
Today, let me share a couple thoughts if you are interested in owning a business.
I own several businesses and I know that its very appealing to those wanting to exit the Rat Race. However, if you go about it the wrong way, you’ll exit one rat race, only to end up in another.
What many business owners fail to understand is that if a business is not set up with the correct and necessary systems, they will find themselves owning a job and not a business. To simplify this concept – the primary question is whether or not the business can still run and grow without your presence.
If you are the only one that can make the business successful and your day to day effort and time is required, you don’t own a business – it owns you.
The point I’m making about owning a business, is similar to the one I made a couple days ago about investing in real estate. It’s not enough to just invest, you need to be clear on how your approach will open the door for your exit from the Rat Race.
