Hackers broke into the Twitter of Elon Musk, bill gates and more than 50 accounts of representatives of the crypto community. The posts publish a message about the free distribution of cryptocurrency. Hackers promise to double all bitcoins that will be sent to the specified address.

According to the browser blockchain.com at the moment, users have transferred more than 4 BTC to the hackers ' address. The amount will probably increase over time. Many transactions are waiting for confirmation, that is, the cryptocurrency has been sent, but has not yet arrived. In most cases, malicious messages are still not deleted, and some accounts are repeatedly attacked.
Also, the criminals hacked the account of the payment app Jack Dorsey Cash App, the creators of Ethereum-Vitalik Buterin, and Litecoin-Charlie Lee, the head of the Tron Foundation Justin Sun, the head of Binance Changpeng Zhao and the company Ripple.
Accounts of major trading platforms were attacked. For example, exchanges Coinbase, Gemini, Kucoin, Bitfinex and others. Some companies reacted immediately, while others still have hacker messages posted on their pages.
At the time of writing the news was hacked Twitter, Uber and Apple. The messages are also related to the fight against COVID-19 and the distribution of bitcoins.

Later, a similar message appeared in the accounts of Kanye West and the richest man in the world — the founder and head of Amazon, Jeff Bezos.

At one point, it seemed that control of most accounts returned to their owners, but just a few minutes later, a new message appeared on Musk's Twitter. Soon, a message with the "distribution of bitcoins" was published in the microblog of the famous politician and 47th Vice President of the United States Joe Biden.
It seems that it is not yet possible to regain control of microblogs. Even if messages are deleted, new ones will appear soon. This is what happened to Kanye West's account, for example.
The amount of funds sent by users to hackers exceeded 12 BTC at one o'clock in the morning on July 16, Moscow time. According to the current exchange rate of the first cryptocurrency, it is more than $110 thousand.
Twtter reported that they know about the incident. The company is investigating what happened and will fix the vulnerability in the near future.
One of the victims, TRON founder Justin sun, has already told Cointelegraph that he is ready to pay $1 million to catch hackers who staged a global hack.
The official Twitter account warns that some users will not be able to post or reset their password until the investigation is complete.
