A street dog from Batumi, Georgia, has become a local hero after taking it upon himself to help children cross a busy intersection: he paves their way and barks at oncoming cars, demanding that they slow down.

A local celebrity named Kupata sometimes even chases vehicles that have not given way to pedestrians.

When Kupat was first mentioned, local residents began to come to this intersection to see the amazing dog in action. As more videos were made, the fame of the dog eventually spread over the Internet, resulting in Batumi being on everyone's radar.

This prompted the country's tourism Department to officially adopt kupata, as It de facto became the city's mascot. Recently, a wall drawing was even created in his honor near this intersection.
