Historic Peace Agreement - Israel & UAE

Since its creation, on the 14th of May 1948, the State of Israel is in a constant conflict with its neighbors, as well as with all Arab states. The bloody history of this state and Palestine, and the other Arab neighbors, stretches over more than 70 years already. I will not go to describe the entire history, I will just pinpoint the turning point: it happened in 1947, when the British forces drew a plan - The UN Partition Plan from 1947 - to split the present territory of Israel and Palestine. The plan was not accepted by almost all of the neighboring states and so, the wars began.

But what happened two days ago, it's another turning point in the bloody history of the conflict between these nations. Indeed, many political agreements had been signed before with tremendous consequences, both good and bad for the region.

The State of Israel and the United Arab Emirates signed a "historic peace agreement" and both states will establish diplomatic relations. The first man who announced this historic political development, even if his role in this process is called into question, was the American President Donald Trump.

The idea behind this historic event is not "huge" as Trump said. The US will hold elections this year and Trump has to do anything he can in order to get re-elected. Still, if we look at the history between Israel and the Arab states, what happened few days ago is indeed worth to mention today.

The State of Israel and the UAE promised for a better cooperation and the start of diplomatic relations. It is a big deal if we look at other Arab states, with the exception of Egypt and Jordan, that never had diplomatic relations with Israel since its creation.
* in 1979 Egypt was the first Arab country that signed a peace agreement with Israel.

But what others think?

The Palestinian organisation, Hamas, declared that this peace agreement will not serve the Palestinian cause and this will only strengthen the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories. This agreement must be condemned and rejected, because it betrays and denies the rights of the Palestinian people.

The Palestinian Authority also condemns the agreement and temporary recalled its ambassador from Abu Dhabi, in sign of protest. They argued that it is an outrageous decision and betrays the Palestinian cause. They asked the UAE authorities to cancel the agreement.

Iran says that the peace agreement will not ensure peace in the region, while Egypt welcomes the agreement.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey can cease its diplomatic relations with the UAE. He even mentioned that Palestine will not be forgotten.

In conclusion, the outcome of this entire story is not known in this moment. There are winners and there are losers. Peace in the region is still uncertain and escalation of other conflicts is very likely.

Trump may win some popularity, as well as Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime-minister. In the same time, due to this peace agreement, Israel promised to delay, at least for the moment, the demolition of the Palestinian houses in the West Bank.

On the other hand, all the Arab countries got irritated by this decision.

I don't except something to happen soon, but this topic is worth to follow.
