Solar energy is not clean. It’s just a different way of polluting.
The illusion of sustainability serves to soothe consciences, not to confront reality.
Solar panels require the intensive extraction of silicon, silver, cadmium, lead, and other metals, many of them highly toxic or sourced through destructive mining. Forests are razed, water sources contaminated, and entire communities exploited in the name of “green energy.”
While panels emit no gases during use, the problem doesn't disappear, it’s merely shifted to the beginning and end of the cycle. And when they reach the end of their lifespan, most end up in landfills or piled up as tech waste, since recycling is expensive, technically difficult, and economically unappealing for those profiting from mass production.
Calling it “clean” is irresponsible, the unconscious, or perhaps sociopathic, insistence of those who forget they still live on this planet, as if Mars were already a realistic alternative.
Nothing born from destruction and ending as toxic waste can be called progress.
