Slowing down, propagating bougainvillea and staying cool.

By A Crypto Tale | Living Everyday | 25 May 2025

It’s a scorcher today—It is not yet 11:00 in the morning but the temperature is already 41 degrees c. I was looking forward to a lazy Sunday all week, but soon realized I had some chores from the week left to do. So, Plan B – I will spend the day indoors mostly, trying to beat the heat with a mix of little productivity and rest.

Earlier this morning, before the sun got too intense, I added to my weekly composting bin, that I have started again over the past few months. This particular compost has gone cold. I will look that up maybe later in the day.

I propagated a few bougainvillea cuttings gifted by a kind gardener. I made 4 cuttings – 2 for the water propagation method and 2 for regular potting soil - just to see which method wins for me. There’s something incredibly satisfying about giving new life to plants, especially ones as hardy and vibrant as bougainvillea. They’ll add a lovely pop of colour when they grow.

Back inside, it’s time to start prepping meals for the week. The menu, basic curries, prepping vegetables and have them in containers - future me will be grateful. And what I don’t use, I will freeze it for another time. With the workweek ahead, this small act of care feels like an act of kindness towards me.

It might take a couple of hours to get this done. And the rest of the day is going to be all rest.

Here’s to slow days, growing things, and staying cool.
