Guys, it's been a busy weekend in the US as sports fans get ready to tune in to arguably the most watched sports event in the world, Super Bowl LVI between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams.
According to NPR, an estimated 117 million viewers are expected to tune in to watch the Cincinnati Bengals face off against the Los Angeles Rams in Los Angeles this Sunday. Yep, it seems like it's gonna be a nail-biting finish and many of us are here for it.
Of course, with this captive audience, the opportunity for high visibility has not been lost on major players in the crypto industry, some of whom have bought prime advertising space, shelling out millions of dollars to make their case in a bid to onboard millions of new potential investors, and causing the event to be rechristened 'Crypto Bowl' in some circles. Among the crypto advertisers are centralized exchanges FTX and Crypto.com, and even Coinbase and TurboTax are showing users how to convert their tax refunds to cryptocurrency.
And if that isn't a sign of crypto's big play to move mainstream, along with all the other news that we've had in recent months, well, look no further than our favorite Canadian rapper, Drake, who is on hand mixing his love for crypto with his love for American football and is betting more than $1 million in Bitcoin in support of his favorite team and player.
Whew! Talk about taking the Young Money tagline seriously!
And guys, wait, I am a huge proponent of crypto, huge. But before you think you missed the bus...

And attempt to FOMO in just because Drake or any other celebrity is in on it, well, maybe this might be the right time to insert Binance's ad. Yep, they're advertising for Super Bowl too.
Anyways, about Drake's bet, let's get into it.
According to Insider, Drake's Bitcoin bets on the Los Angeles Rams and star wide receiver Odell Beckham, recorded on online betting app, Stake, totalled more than $1 million. He is betting that the Los Angeles Rams will beat the Cincinnati Bengals. And I'll share a screengrab of his Instagram page here.

He has also bet that Beckham would top 62.5 receiving yards and complete at least one touchdown.

If he wins all three bets, Drake could win more than $2.2 million for a profit of over $1 million. That's a lot of money. All of my investments in the world, ever, is nowhere near this sum.
Well guys, that was just a quick tidbit I wanted to share with you. It seems that we are in for some pretty interesting times in the crypto world, and I'm all for it. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time for I know that there are still many sceptics out there who are continuing to dismiss the industry and all that has been accomplished over the years. Crypto has, to this point, been able to weather and shrug off this negativity, however, and so only time will tell what the future holds- for the players and teams competing in the Super Bowl this evening, and for the cryptocurrency in general.
My one cautionary note, however, will be that as cryptocurrency becomes more popular, it is even more important for us to conduct diligent research before conducting our investments as these can have real life long term implications for all of us. And I am here rooting for each of us to be successful, so please take care.
Okay, that's it. I'm off to grab a bag of popcorn and my favorite buddy pillow so that I could snuggle up before the television ahead of game night.
We'll chat again soon, guys. Maybe we can chat about it some more if Drake's bet pays off... or not. Until then, please remember to be safe. Arrivederci!
