The concept of M.y.ours ideas
Sometimes I have ideas, but I don't have the technical knowledge or simply the time bring them alive (for me an idea is alive, if you do nothing with it might die...). So why not share them here with you!
M.y.ours is a word game I made: My idea may become yours! ours!
How can we can interact:
- using the thumb up or thumb down: I'll know what you think of this idea
- using the comment sections, we can we can work together :
- adding possibilities I did not think about
- tell me how you would do it
- if you have the same problem
- maybe some of you already have a solution
M.y.ours idea n°2: Photo to trail convertor for walking, hiking, biking...
Once upon a time, a small French guy (me) was hiking and encountered a map under a shelter! This map was really useful, showing several trails! Cool, using my phone I did two things:
- a picture of the map: as a backup
- open a localisation app like maps.me and start to mark the trail, just enough points to find my way
Well, it took me a couple of minutes but in the end I had my trail... and it was just for one.
Then I had this idea: it will be great to have an App that use a photo/screenshot of a trail and export it directly into a map!
To my best knowledge, no App is doing this kind of job...
So here is how the App could work:
- take a photo of a trail or a screenshot found online
- load the picture in the "photo to trail converting App", then there are two detections modes:
- automatic trails detection: the App processes the picture and find one or several trails
- the user can choose which trail is good
- the user can also configure some color filter to help the App to find a red/yellow/blue trail for example
- manual trail detection: the user manually highlight the trail (using his finger for example)
- automatic trails detection: the App processes the picture and find one or several trails
- the App has two modes:
- maps mode: allows you to match your map on a real map
- choose your site localization: where you are or a specific address
- trail loading: choose a trail that was detected before
- then you zoom in or out, slide, rotate to match the trail to the map
- start your walk/hike/bike session
- no maps mode:
- load your trail previously detected
- specify the scale of the trail if not already done
- specify the starting point of your trail and in which direction (if needed) you are going
- start to walk, the App will be smart enough (making a comparison of your real path and the loaded map) to match and recognize where you are on the App
- the app can show a confidence index regarding your position on the trail
- then follow the instruction of the map or check that you are on the right path
- maps mode: allows you to match your map on a real map
The maps mode assumes you have an internet connection to download map or to have previously loaded the map.
The no maps mode is quite tricky:
- it assumes good Gps signal
- taking the right path at the beginning and even during the hike
Well, what do you think of this idea?
