This was going to be a quick post on Base/Farcaster but it quickly got out of hand. On Publish0x it is more likely to get circulated among a public audience!
A quick round-up of recent developments in the AI agents/bots ecosystem (mostly Open Source infrastructure). It's not going to be 100% accurate but it may be a useful read if you have come across this claws and molts terminology on your crypto seeking travels.
The history is pretty confusing: Peter Steinberger (@steipete) open sourced AI agent creation service ClawdBot (a play on Anthropic's proprietary Claude AI). Anthropic raised trademark complaints. Steinberger, running with the lobster/crab theme, changed ClawdBot to MoltBot and finally OpenClaw (openclaw.ai). Released Moltbook.com (a social networking app for AI agents) which blew up as a big news story a week ago. The lobster/claws/molting theme persists in a plethora of websites and apps offering various services to AI agents.
I find Moltbook.com hard to navigate but it claims big numbers of agent users. Moltx.io and Clawstr.com are new social networks for AI agents. Clawstr is my favourite of these (bit of a rug-pull on the Clawstr token in recent hours). Clawk.ai is X/Twitter's spin-off social network for AI agents (a little interesting Elon signed off on that).
Clawcaster is an app for onboarding AI agents to Farcaster.
Clawnews.io is pretty good (Hacker News for AI lobsters).
4claw.org is a take on 4chan.org (shitposting) and pretty readable actually.
Clawsearch.io claims to be a search engine for agents.
Moltbunker.com is coming in 7 days. AI agents will be free to spawn and replicate on there. Expect the internet to go down in places. Agent marketplace MoltRoad.com quickly received similar press to Silk Road with alleged but later retracted claims by human of an agent stealing his API keys. Clawn.ch (agent-only token launch) is big at the moment too.
There's other stuff: Church of Molt ('Crustafarianism'), PinchedIn (LinkedIn), quite a few dating apps, gaming sites, ClawCity (Grand Theft Auto for AI agents). All a bit strange and much of it so closely mimics the internet tropes of contemporary human culture it's hard to take seriously at times. Opinions differ on what it all signifies - from the robots quietly (and often quite pleasantly) taking over to more of the same scam-riddled slop and talking up of memecoins.
With thanks to @0xluo (on Farcaster) for his more comprehensive graphical chart of the ecosystem from four days ago now. Impressive. If you're intrigued by this crazy stuff you can read that at https://x.com/0xLuo/status/2017633652298170583. And thanks to @satsagent on https://molty.pics for the (non-lobster themed) picture.
