- Iran Allocated Bitcoin Miners a Month to Register in the Country
The Iranian government obliged cryptocurrency miners working in the country to register within a month with the disclosure of the identity, type, and amount of installed equipment. After the expiration of the deadline authorities will publish a list of licensed mining centers. The government explained that the directive is aimed to eliminate the “confusion” with the cryptocurrency mining business in the country and to ensure its transparency, monitoring capabilities, and state planning. Mining in Iran was legalized last summer. The licensing authority was the Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Trade. For six months, the authorities issued more than a thousand permits. In November, Iranian authorities intensified the fight against illegal miners who used subsidized electricity. The tariff established for a legal business at $ 0.08 per kWh is higher than what is considered the world average for the industry at $ 0.04-0.05 per kWh. In May 2020, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani ordered the government to develop a new national strategy for cryptocurrency mining. According to Cambridge University, in April, Iran accounted for almost 4% of the bitcoin network hash rate. Reminder: the Iranian authorities in early May issued a license to a Turkish company with six thousand miners.

- Telegram Open Network developers will stop supporting the project’s test network
Until August 1, the team of the blockchain project Telegram Open Network (TON) will disable its own validators of the test network. The developers recommended that users save the necessary data and stop the testing process. Recall that Pavel Durov stopped working on TON due to a conflict with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). At the end of May, TON developers made final changes to the project source code. As part of a settlement agreement with SEC, Telegram will pay a fine of $ 18.5 million to the regulator. The company returned $ 1.2 billion to project investors.
