1Hive has been working, 1Hive has been building partnerships, and 1Hive has been building bridges and will continue to build in the future. This is just the beginning.
We would like to introduce the new Matic(Polygon)-to-xDai Bridge, built in collaboration between Connext and 1Hive. Thanks to this bridge, users will be able to bridge their tokens to and from Matic to xDai without having to move their tokens to the Ethereum Mainnet.
How Connext Bridges Work:
Before going into details about the use of the Matic-to-xDai Bridge, it is useful to explain the basics of how Connext bridges work. So quoting directly from Connext Documentation, the following is typically the main idea, which will in the future will enable cross-chain aggregation on Honeyswap as well:
At a high level, Connext lets users swap assetA on chainA for assetB on chainB using conditional transfers. This happens in a few simple steps:
1. Alice, a user of Connext, sends a conditional transfer of assetA to Bob.
2. Bob, a liquidity provider (aka a router), sends an equivalent amount of assetB to Alice.
3. Alice unlocks her conditional transfer to receive assetB, which in turn allows Bob to do the same.
Therefore, in our Bridge, when users send DAI to the Router on Matic side of the Bridge, they will in return get the equivalent amount of xDai on the xDai side of the Bridge. Moreover, with this idea in mind, more bridges are planned to be built in order to allow Cross-Chain transactions, which will inevitably result in arbitrage opportunities for users.
How to Use Connext Matic(Polygon)-to-xDai Bridge Tutorial:
Note: The instructions below are for moving funds from Matic (Polygon) to xDai. The steps for xDai to Matic (Polygon) are the same; you just need to connect to the bridge on xDai network first and repeat the same steps.
Disclaimer: This bridge is currently in its beta phase, remember to use at your own risk.
Unlike similar bridges, one of the many advantages of Connext bridges is that they allow ease of use. As it will be seen in this tutorial, users will be able to bridge their assets.
Step 1:
Go to https://xdai-matic-connext.vercel.app/ and connect to your wallet on Matic (Polygon) network first. And in this screen, write your own wallet address in the field below:
Step 2:
After writing down your wallet address in the field and clicking “Cross-Chain Transfer”, you will be prompted with this screen:
And there will be a Metamask Wallet Pop-Up asking you for a signature in order to login.
Providing your signature on Metamask, you will be prompted the following screen, which will show you your DAI balance on Matic (Polygon) network.
Step 3:
Entering the amount you wish to bridge to the xDai Chain and hitting Swap on this screen will again result in a Pop-Up from your Metamask Wallet, where you will confirm the transaction.
Step 4:
After confirming the transaction, you will see the following on your screen, and in case the network is not congested, your DAI on Matic (Polygon) will be bridged to xDai Network as xDai under a minute.
After seeing the following success screen, you can now connect to xDai chain in your Metamask and see your xDai bridged from Polygon network. And the great part of this is that you will not have to bridge any other token for using gas on the xDai chain as xDai is the native token used for gas on the network.
The following short video also explains how easy and fast it is to use the bridge:
